Receipe for Gulab Jamuns


Receipe for Gulab Jamuns:-(Makes 40-50)
Ingredients
  • Milk powder 3 cups
  • Maida 1 cup
  • Cream 1 cup (approx.)
  • Baking powder 1 tsp.
  • Sugar 750 g.
  • Water 1 litre
  • Raisins 50-100 g.
  • Cardamom powder 1 tsp.
  • Oil for frying
For the Syrup: Add sugar to water. Boil for about 10-15 min. Turn the heat to minimum to keep it warm.

Method for the Gulab Jamuns

Mix maida, milk powder and baking powder.Using the cream, knead a soft, smooth dough until it does not stick to your hands. Add a little milk, if required.Make small round balls using the dough, filling each with 1-2 raisins and a pinch of cardamom powder. Heat oil. (It should not be very hot and the gulab jamun should come up slowly) Fry the balls in the oil until they are brown and then transfer them to the warm syrup. Soak for at least 30 min. in the syrup.These can be served warm or cold, with or without syrup and remain fresh for 3-4 days at room temperature and more than a week in the refrigerator.
