Welcome to the Ottawa Homeschooling groups web site.
We are an informal group of homeschooling parents in the Ottawa, Ontario area.
When our family began the homeschooling journey in April of 2004, the only support groups I could find were either not local - or I had to apply for membership - which required time & money. I needed answers immediately - as we were pulling our then 12 year old son out of school - and we weren't happy campers! The school board tried to ruffle our feathers a little - and I finally did track down one woman who answered a few questions - and gave me what was her best advice - join a large provincial group. I was looking for something more local - so, seeing as I coudln't find it - I started it!
I couldn't believe how many homeschooling families that are in my own community - and I couldn't find something informal for all homeschoolers in our community. As I researched homeschooling, I again, couldn't believe the internet resourses out there - the sheer numbers were astounding! Well, needless to say, my favourites list was too large, things were so unorganized, that I started an Ottawa Homeschooling as a great way to organize my links - but I felt a little like I was sending a message out into space - not really knowing if I'd get a ping back!
Well, I did get a ping - than another, and another. Our group is growing every week. And those links are too! ;o) The group is very supportive. If you've got a question - feel free to ask - as I'm sure there are others with the same questions!
