New Message from Dan
Wassup? This is Dan. No, I'm not kidding. The real Dan. This letter comes from my heart and I hope you will take it in the spirit in which it was written.

First of all, I want to thank you all again for your amazing support. Your response to our shows has been overwhelming. Thanks to you, We Fit Together is about to retire on TRL. Thank you for faithfully watching Making the Band and for continuing to support us while we are so far from home for so long. All that means so much to me.

I don't get to visit O-Town sites very often, but I recently visited some and was shocked and appalled by the comments made at SOME sites about my girlfriend Erin.

Due to circumstances, Erin hasn't been seen on MTB, and I tend to keep my personal life private, so I realize you don't know much about her. I'd like to tell you some things about her now.

Erin was my high school sweetheart. We feel blessed to be together again. She is beautiful, inside and out. She is completely supportive of me in all I do. She can't be with me as much as we'd like right now because she is in her final semester of pre-med at a very competitive university.

The false and unkind things said on some of these sites make me very sad because Erin is an incredibly nice person who has done nothing to deserve this. I am madly in love with her, and what hurts her hurts me as well.

The O-Town fans I know are some of the kindest, most supportive people ever. The people who say these thoughtless things are not the fans I know. But they give everyone a bad name.

I'm writing this to ask the O-Town fans I know and love to continue your amazing support of us. I'm also asking that you treat Erin, as well as the other guys' girlfriends, with the same kindness and consideration that you've always shown to me. If you're saying these things, please stop. Even if you aren't saying these things, you can help me by doing all you can to put a stop to it. Please remember that the things posted on these sites are seen by many people; and the untrue and unkind ones really hurt.

Thanks very much for your understanding and, once again, for all of the incredible support you continue to give us. We love you all.

More Shine On NBA All-Star Weekend
Philadelphia will host dozens of all-stars next month of the basketball and the musical variety.

As has been the case in recent years, the National Basketball Association's All-Star Weekend will attract a hotbed of artists from the pop, hip-hop and R&B worlds. Among the performers lined up for various activities and parties are Elton John, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Britney Spears, City High and Fabolous.

The 51st NBA All-Star Game, including John's performances and a yet-to-be-announced national anthem singer, will be broadcast live on NBC in the U.S., CTV in Canada, and in 210 countries around the world at 5:00 p.m. ET.

"The NBA All-Star Read to Achieve Celebration" will also include appearances by Carson Daly and actor Frankie Muniz ("Malcolm in the Middle. The show, which will be broadcast at 11:00 a.m. ET on NBC, TNT, Nickelodeon, Nick GAS, BET and NBA.com TV in the U.S. and MuchMusic in Canada, will feature Spears singing "Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" and Bow Wow rapping "Take Me Home." (MTV's parent company, Viacom, also owns Nickelodeon, Nick GAS and BET.)

While the Read to Achieve event is not open to the public, tickets are available for the NBA All-Star Jam Session, the NBA's basketball theme park that will invade the Pennsylvania Convention Center from February 7 to February 10. Fabolous, City High, Naughty by Nature, Warren G, Fat Joe, Glenn Lewis, Jaguar Wright, Ruff Endz, Koffee Brown, Toya and others will perform on the Jam Session's Club NBA stage. Tickets for the event are available through Ticketmaster or on NBA.com.

Justin Timberlake and Brian McKnight will also be part of the NBA's official activities, joining hoops stars and legends (including Earvin "Magic" Johnson) in the inaugural 989 Sports' All-Star Hoop-It-Up tournament. The games, which will put a celebrity, an NBA star, a WNBA star and an NBA legend on each team, will be held at the First Union Center on February 9.

On February 7, former En Vogue/Lucy Pearl singer Dawn Robinson, Bilal and Philadelphia's own Amel Larrieux will perform at the fourth annual NBA All-Star pre-party at Polly Esther's, while Biz Markie, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Ludacris and Mr. Cheeks perform at the Will Smith & Friends party at Electric Factory.

Biz Markie is scheduled to DJ at no less than a half dozen parties, including P. Diddy's All-Star Lounge — hosted by P.D., Magic Johnson and Jermaine Dupri — at the Franklin Institute on February 8. Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick will take the stage at the second P. Diddy's All-Star Lounge party the following night.

Also on February 8 and 9 is Sega Sports' Philly All-Star Concert featuring Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Bilal, the Roots, Jaguar Wright, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Kindred performing at the Electric Factory.

The Second Annual Hoop Magic Celebrity Basketball Game, with Master P, Silkk the Shocker, Boyz II Men, Jaheim and Missy Elliott participating and Ludacris and Tank performing at halftime, will take place February 8 at the Liacouras Center.

February 8 will also see the Cash Money Millionaires and the Neptunes hit the NBA All-Star Spangled Banner Bash at Deco Night Club; Funkmaster Flex at FUBU's Good Life Party at Brave New World; Fabolous, Chaka Khan, Ja Rule and Biz Markie at the National Basketball Players' Association All-Star Gala at the Liacouras Center; a Bone Thugs-N-Harmony reunion at TLA; and Kid Capri and Philly's Most Wanted at the NBA All-Star Weekend Bangout at Transit Nightclub.

On February 10, Electric Factory will host the Old School All-Stars party with performances by Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Doug E. Fresh, EPMD, DJ Jazzy Jeff, MC Lyte, Public Enemy, Rakim and Run-DMC.

That same night, Mr. Cheeks and Ron G. will play another Transit Nightclub Bangout; the Roots and other artists on the upcoming "Blade 2" soundtrack (see) will promote that album at Polly Esther's; and R. Kelly will host the Chicago NBA Player's Ball at the Ben Franklin Ballroom with performances from several Chicago DJs.

Shaggy, Dream, O-Town, Sisqó, Jessica Simpson and Harry Connick Jr. were among the artists who performed at various All-Star Game events last year in Washington, D.C..

A Pop Force In Their Own Rights
Plucked from obscurity by the MTV produced "Making The Band" series little over a year ago, O-Town's career is now moving along from strength to strength rapidly. Following the release of the three hit singles and a platinum awarded eponymous album, and a US tour with non other than Britney Spears. O-Town have been well and truly propelled into the international milti-million selling stratosphere.

In January 2002, O-Town will finally set foot on British shores to embark on their first ever UK tour. True, their colossal success owes much to the triumph of the TV series which documented their rise to fame, next month we will be able to witness first hand what Ashley, Jacob, Erik, Dan and Trevor do best, polished, powercharged pop 100% live... That's right, no backing tracks, and no mining, just pure unadulterated talent delivering hit after hit...

O-Town will be supported by US band LFO who scored two massive hit singles here in the UK with "Girl On TV" and "Summer Girls".

To tantalize your appetites before you even get to see the concert, the entire series of "Making The Band II" will shown exclusively on Channel 4'S T4 over the xmas period. Each episode will be shown daily from the 17th of December in what can only be described as an O-Town marathon!

Lou Pearlman: Making The Archies
Justin, JC and Lance, meet your newest competition: Archie, Jughead and Veronica.

That's right, the man behind such pop creations as the Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync and O-Town is moving onto a different type of two-dimensional character: Boy-band mogul Lou Pearlman says he's teaming up with Archie Entertainment to launch real-life music groups based on The Archies and Josie and the Pussycats comic books.

With the help of former BMG President Strauss Zelnick, Pearlman's Trans Continental Entertainment is staging a nationwide search for young musicians to become the next Archie, Jughead, Veronica and Betty, in preparation for a new album, tour and TV show based on Riverdale High's finest rockers.

"We're going to bring Archie into the next century," Pearlman tells E! Online. "Musically, it's going to capture today's pop-culture market...The Archies will be able to tour, and I think it will be tremendous."

Specifically, Pearlman's hunting for young people who can sing, dance and play their own instruments for the new project, which he describes as "more contemporary pop and pop-rock." (And yes, "if they do look like Archie and Jughead that would help," he adds.)

The talent search is one of several projects being launched this year by Archie Entertainment to help celebrate the comic book's 60-year anniversary.

Of course, if this all sounds oddly familiar, it should: The Archies, first introduced in the 1940s, were already turned into a hit cartoon and chart-topping band in the late 1960s, appearing on CBS and scoring a number one hit with the song "Sugar, Sugar." Thanks to a group of studio musicians enlisted by '60s bubblegum pop mogul Don Kirshner, the Archies' catchy, saccharine-friendly tune sold six million copies and even knocked the Rolling Stones off the top of the charts.

While some might fear that Lou Pearlman is now poised to turn the Archies into, say, R-Town, at least one of the original band members says he supports the idea.

"I know Lou Pearlman...and I think they'll do a real good job," says Ron Dante, the L.A.-based singer-producer who originally sang Archies hits like "Sugar, Sugar" and "Jingle Jangle" during the band's cartoon heyday.

"It was a good job for me at the time, and I couldn't be happier that people connected with it," Dante says. "Archie, Reggie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead are good role models, and the country could use a little good, positive pop music right now with all the terrible things we've been through."

For his part, Pearlman says he plans to ask Dante to be involved with the creation of this latest Archies incarnation. It's only appropriate considering one of the new group's first priorities will be recording a remake of 1969's chart-topper "Sugar, Sugar."

As for Josie and the Pussycats, Pearlman says he also will be searching for girls to lead that band. The timing isn't exactly perfect: Last year's movie version of the comic book scored decent reviews for its pop-punk soundtrack, but the film starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Tara Reid bombed at the box office.

Pearlman, however, says this latest version of the Pussycats will be more "Spice Girls -meets-Britney Spears."

"I think [the makers of the film] were more interested in making a movie, and we're more interested in making a show and music that will last," he says.

The O-Town pictures from Popstar will be up tomorrow, and here is the article in the Popstar Magazine on February:

O-Town has entered a whole new level of superstardom. And they've earned it!

Hot on the heels of their opening spot on the spectacular Britney Spears tour, the guys have scored another big hit with "We Fit Together" and are about to stage a Third Coming in the form of the latest season of Making the Band.

But there are some big differences goin' on. And it's Popstar!'s job to expose the real story!

Unlike the old myth that O-Town was coasting on fame handed to them on a silver platter, these guys have won the grudging respect of radio programmers by consistently offering top-notch spins at a time when even some of the releases by usually reliable acts like Britney, *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys have failed to capture the imaginations of pop fans. They have shown that they can secure the #1 spot on TRL among the stiffest competition imaginable (and even host the show like pros!), that they can sing and dance live and that they have the guts to stick together through thick and thin even as their paralel reality-show peers Eden's Crush lose their unity.

Nosy folks wanna know the reason why. Why O-Town? Why now?

The guys seem to be benefiting from a go-team workaholism that Dan says came in handy when Britney came a callin' with an offer for a 45-minute slot on her arena tour.

"It was weird for us because this was the first tour where we hadn't been the headliner, the boss, per say. But we're really confident in what we're doing and we feel we put on a good show."

Were they "slaves 4" Britney this time around?

"You could kinda say that," Dan says gamely, "but I wouldn't put it that way. It's weird, y'know, not getting a soundcheck if you want it or not knowing things because you're not the main act. It's something we got used to."

Another part of the reason they're succeeding is their dedication to an attitude that centerfold-ready Ashley Parker Angel describes.

"The O-Town spirit is that anything is possible and that we're gonna continue to do our best to become the best at what we do," he says with a Califriendly sparkle in his eyes. "Our motto is, 'Prove people wrong.'"

On the mile-long list of people who've been wrong about O-Town is fellow MTV icon Carson Daly, who for a while took to ribbing the guys on his radio show for being more pre-fab then ab-fab. Carson's sarcasm grated on fans' nerves, but the band blows it off.

"In my mind, it's only offensive if it comes from somebody who has some sort of substantial job," says Jacob, who's never shy to speak his mind. "That's like the neighbor down the street saying they don't like your car when they are 14... what would they know anyway?"

Criticism from all corners is one reason fame has its ups and downs. But perhaps more ups then their detractors would like to think.

"Is fame all it's cracked up to be?" Trevor wonders aloud as he sits in a corner of the studio where he's about to pose for his fourth Popstar! cover.

"And more! And less. There's both sides, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I get to do what I love every day, I get to make people smile - that's a big thing for me. I love looking out and knowing I'm inflicting joy on their life. It's a great feeling. And man, I'm doing it with four other people that love it just as much as I do. That's a really cool thing."

While on tour, the guys willingly follow a strict schedule of performance, travel, publicity and filming for Making the Band. Girls throw themselves at O-Town right and left, but who has time for romance?

"You have that kinda stuff," Dan admits shyly. "It has happened, but lotsa tims that's not attractive. It's not something that I'm intrested in goin' for. It's something that I choose to look past really quick. Use the stuble approach, just come up to me regular - you don't have to throw yourself, offering your body or other things."

"I wish my tour life was that crazy," Erik-Michael cracks about his rock 'n' roll tour fantasies. He strokes the sexy sould patch on his chin, the latest of the image tweaks that have left him looking hotter and more pinup-worthy than ever before.

Laughing at the idea of a steady stream of groupies, Ashley confesses, "I don't know that it happens right and left constantly, but it happens. It's a trip! We take it in stride and we tell each other about it, like, 'Hey, man, you'll never believe what happened...' and it's just... I don't know, I think we really just try to look past it and stay grounded. We really want to achieve more so now's not the time to get big heads."

But love is all around, there for taking. O-Town has millions of fans, a large percentage of whom would do anything to date a member of the best-looking band around. (C'mon, admit it - all five are P.H.A.T.!)

So who's single and who's double and who's telling the truth about it and who's lying through his shiny, white teeth?

Ashley claims, after a platinum pause, to be girlfriend-free. "Just the restrictions of time being all over the world and trying to sustain a relationship... it takes a lot of faith with both people... I don't know what will happen with Shelli and I, but I know that right now we just decided to kinda be friends and chill on the relationship thing because it's really difficult."

Erik-Michael is on the market, as is party-animal Trevor, who nonetheless claims that, "I'm kinda talkin' to this girl, but I don't know if I wanna make her my girlfriend and put her on the show. I don't know if I wanna make her my girlfriend yet. That's the thing."

Dan and Jacob? Forget it. Both taken. Dan says he has a girlfriend who is "not Cindy. It's kinda been a dating thing that I've been doing through and it's something that I'd rather not put on the television show." Consider that a scoop! And of course Jacob isstill with his longtime love Janie.

With Britney, Jessica and other female superstars going on the record as proud virgins, why are there no boy-band members out there holding themselves up to the same standards?

"Wow. Um, shoot!" Ashley sputters. "I don't know. That's a loaded question. I don't know if I could come up with a politically correct answer for that!" That's okay, Ash - you answered just fine!

"My mom still doesn't know I lost my virginity," Trevor teases as he fingers a wandering tuft of his hair. So don't expect any press releases from O-Town or any other boy stars in the near future.

With the trials and tribulations of maturing as a band over the course of a single album and doing it all on their own TV show - minus any down time for catching a flick or making out with a steady on a daily basis - things do get punchy with the guys at times. They disagree. But they never get out of hand; you won't be reading about and O-Town brawl anytime soon.

"No, never," Erik-Michael says firmly. "We vowed never to do that to each other."

"I definitely like to have the last word in an argument most of the time. I'm just a stubborn person when it comes to that," Dan confesses. "I don't win many arguments, but I don't get pushed aside easy. If I believe in something, I'm gonna fight for it. Most of the time it's me against four guys. That's find if I lose - I can give an 'I told you so' later, but I gotta go with the majority in a group situation."

They rarely fight for real, but tensions simmer from time to time. Even about stupid stuff. For example, when we asked each guy to pick which other group member he'd like to be for 24 hours, Dan used it as an opportunity to out Ashley as a roomie who is likely to leave his cereal bowl in the sink still full of milk and a few stray mouthfuls. Trevor also referenced Ashley's cereal-bowl transgression.

"I'm always being told off for spacing out," Ashley says matter-of-factly, as if he secretly enjoys driving his tidier bandmates a lil' bit crazy.

(The fact that the guys are so different will make for one hilarious segment on MTV's Making the Band - where the guys are asked to respond to interview questions as if they are another member. We heard "opposites" Dan and Erik-Michael were one such flip-flop!)

You could search and search for bad vibes, but you're likely to come away impressed with O-Town's overall cohesion and sensibility. They fit together aftre all. Finally.

And that's the secret to why they're only getting more popular and more successful, which is the most shocking thing about the group that nobody thought would last.

Jacob sums up the state of O-Town, population five, with his bit of boy-band wisdom: "I wish we would have written more songs for the first album, I wish we could have had more time together to be friends before we started - that's just nothing you can change. If I changed that, it wouldn't be the same story. The stupid things we've done - we've grown for it and learned from it. So I'm very happy with the way things have gone and where we are now."

Kiss & Tell: O-Town's Sexy Love Secrets!!!

Popstar!: If a girl were to suprise you with something for Valentine's Day, what would you love to receive?
Erik-Michael: I guess I would want time with her because that's the thing that's lacking most in my life.

Are you a good kisser?
Dan: Yeah! I feel like I'm a really good kisser.

You know what they say... good singer, good kisser.
Dan: Oh, really??? [Laughs]

Describe your first kiss in one word.
Trevor: It was in eighth grade and the only way I can describe it is... "Wow!"
Dan: "Nerve-wracking."

What about the *best* kiss?
Ashley: The best kiss I ever had was on a ski lift, I think, and it lasted the entire trip up. It was night time. It was a night skiing resort that had lights everywhere and it was snowing a little bit and it was the longest kiss ever. It was probably a 10-minute kiss.

What would you do if you loved a girl but couldn't have her?
Trevor: I've never really loved anyone that much. I've never been in love. The fact that you look foward to it means it's never gonna come, so I try to keep it off my mind. I would just be myself. Especially because I wouldn't want them to know, so I would just act the same way as always around them.
Dan: I've always believed that if you really love somebody and that's your true feeling, that's your heart right there. You don't like anything get in the way - you don't let a situation, you don't let another person, you don't let anything else get in the way of that. You don't not date 'em because you're far away, you don't date 'em because its not convenient. If you really love somebody, you find a way to make that work... or at least try your hardest!

Do you think there is a right time to fall in love, then?
Erik-Michael: No, I think that love just happens.

What's the best cure for a broken heart?
Erik-Michael: Laughing and music.

What is it like to date you?
Jacob: I don't know, you've got to ask my girlfriend. I'm sure it's pretty stressful. My lifestyle is very different and demands a lot of me, a lot of time. But I don't know... I love my girlfriend very much and we have a lot of fun together.
Trevor: I think it sucks dating me. To be honest! You can have a phone conversation with me every day for two minutes or for two hours, but you'll barely ever get to see me - I'll be on the road all the time.
Ashley: [Laughs nervously] Um, I don't know! That's a weird question. Thinking of dating myself... that's just weird! I like to cuddle. I'm a cuddler.

How can a girl tell if you like her?
Erik-Michael: I tell them! [Laughs]

What do you wish you understood about girls?
Erik-Michael: [Laughs] Everything! [More seriously] Everything...
Jacob: Why "no" is so hard to understand.

In what context?
Jacob: I think if you tell a girl "no", they don't understand. It's like they've never been told no before. I wish I understood why it's so hard to understand what no means.

What do you wish girls would understand about guys more?
Jacob: We're not as complicated as girls think we are. [Laughs]

Life with be meaningless without... what?
Dan: Love.

Billboard has a weekly poll about who is your choice for the top new pop artist of 2001. And O-Town is one of the choices against with Aaron Carter, Alicia Keys, Blu Cantrell, Crazy Town, Dream, Lifehouse, Linkin' Park, Ludacris, and Nelly Furtado. Details On The Soundtrack "Longshot"
'NSYNC lend the song "Feel the Love," while O-Town contribute "See You Again" and LFO offer "Me (Boom Shelak, Lak, Boom)" to the album, which also includes tunes by Natural, Take 5, C-Note and Innosense.

The soundtrack, an enhanced CD, also includes the movie trailer for "Longshot," due March 26 in VHS and DVD formats.

Details of Season Three of 'Making The Band'
The premiere episode of the third season of O-Town's reality-television program Making The Band will debut at 9 p.m. ET on January 19. The first two seasons of the musical series about the creation of a pop band aired on ABC, but this season it moves to MTV.

Season three will document O-Town's tour with Britney Spears in October and November of 2001, and how life was on the road for groupmembers Ashley Parker Angel, Erik-Michael Estrada, Dan Miller, Trevor Penick, and Jacob Underwood.

LAUNCH asked Miller how he feels about Making The Band moving from ABC to MTV. "That's cool for us because on ABC there was a certain demographic and a certain etiquette, if you will, about what we could do, things we could say, and things that could be shown," he said. "MTV definitely expands on everything. On ABC it kind of made it look like we never cuss, we never do anything. We do say a couple of cuss words every once and a while-we do some things like that. MTV will be able to expand on that. Hopefully they won't exploit it because we're not potty mouths."

Next week, O-Town is scheduled embark on an international tour that will take them through Ireland, Scotland, the U.K., Denmark, Switzerland, and Germany.

The Premiere Date of Making The Band
Finally I got the latest information about the premiere date of 3rd season of MTB. O-Town Street Team has announced that the premiere date is January 19 at 9:00pm EST (MTV). And they mentioned that the confusion was made because MTV official site didn't update the date yet. But now you can see that the MTV site finnaly updated. To see more information, click -> here!

American Music Awards Tonight
O-Town will be performing / attending on the American Music Awards tonight 8:00pm ABC. The ABC official site still did not put O-Town in the presenter, performer, or even nomination list. However, O-Town official did announce that they will be on the AMA, so be sure to set your VCR and watch it on time!

2002 O-Town Calendar

Still 12th Or 19th?
Most of the fan sites and fan clubs have announced that the third season of Making the Band will be airing on January 19, and they didn't say anything about January 12. But it seems that the commercial of the MTB from MTV channel has disappeared now, and MTV.com still saying that the date is January 19, so I will post in here if I found more information.

MTV's has a commercial about the new season of Cribs. And the commercial mentioned O-Town, Mariah Carey, Redman, and Method Man. The new season of Crib will start on January 9, but it doesn't announce the air time, so I will keep look for it and post it in here!

Bad News On USA Today
I don't want to put this bad news here but I'm so mad of this news. USA Today put O-Town on No.6 as the worst album of the year, All Or Nothing on No.1 as the worst single, and No.1 as All Around. That's the worst news, I mean they got No.1 on their released singles on TRL, and they're almost so popular as other boy bands like N' Sync and BSB. How come they will put them in the worst charts? So if you have time, please write a letter or e-mail and complain by going to usatoday.com.

Dan's mom has released this message to the O-Town fans:

"Dear O-Town fans,

As the new year begins, it seems like a good time for me to be the next O-Town Mom to chime in with my thanks. With someone special's very kind assistance, I'm posting this at Destination O-Town, but please know it is most definitely meant for ALL of the O-Town fans, fansites, and clubs who have been so incredibly supportive to the boys and their loved ones this year. I have so enjoyed meeting many of you this year and getting to know some of you as well.
I hope you all know how very important you are. As the boys have said so many times, they don't make music for the critics. They do it because they love it, of course, but most importantly, they do it for YOU. They've been working really hard to bring that music to you on their first (and soon to be second!) album, on the radio, in TV appearances, and in concert. And you've never let them down. Wherever they were, you were there! You are without a doubt the most dedicated fans in the world and they are blessed to have you.
As blessed as they are to have you, we their families are just as blessed. The past two years have been so much fun for all of us, but they haven't been without challenges. When faced with one of those challenges, one of the things that always picks us up and makes us smile is YOU. Your love for our sons is heart-warming and your faith in them is inspiring.
So, on behalf of O-Town and their families, I'd like to say thank you for your support, dedication, hard work, and love. I hope that the new year brings you all many blessings, as well as many happy O-Town memories!
