Chapter 1
Americans were living well in the late 80s, and that time there were not
many people immigrate to United States from other foreign countries.
Music, clubs, and discos were some popular entertainments when people
had nothing to do at night.
Ashley were always thinking when he will be a rich man. He lived in a
small house with some inexpensive furniture, a small bathroom, and a
bedroom, where he thought that there was the best place inside the
house. He didn't have a job because he could not find any jobs in the
newspapers, and he only buy newspapers once everyday, and so he was
experiencing the hard way of living.
His older step brother Erik was living with him. Erik did have a job to
work, but his monthly salary only could support the house and their
lives and nothing else.
One day Erik got some letters from the house mailbox, and one of the
letters was Ashley, he thought it was some advertisements and wanted to
throw that away, but when he saw the words on the envelope, he saw that
the words was written by hand and not typed. So he felt kinda
interesting and opened it with some wonders. He took out the letter and
opened the letter, he knew that his old friend was invited him to a
ballet, where he thought was a high class place and only for rich men.
"Hey! You're so lucky, I wanna go to that ballet too, but he didn't
invite me," Erik said to him with a small smile.
"Oh no, that is the awful letter I received in my life,"
Ashley looked at the letter and said in sadness and fearfulness.
Erik surprised for what Ashley felt about the letter and asked him with
lots of wonders and questions, "What, Ash? Don't you think it's a
good chance for you to go out and meet some beauties in the ballet? Why
you are so rude to this invitations? You don't wanna meet people?"
"Of course I want to go," he replied quickly, "but you
know what, how can I go to that high class ballet without a
basic-ballet-uniform? And the important thing is that I need a tie, a
beautiful tie!"
"Don't worry, you could wear the one you wore last time when you
went to the party," Erik said.
"Come on, not that one. It was just a party at home, not in the
public area, I want a coat that looks cool and handsome," he
shouted at Erik without anger.
"Ok, so I think I could help you a little bit, ok, here you
go," after Erik answered, he gave Ashley forty dollars to buy
anything he wants for the ballet. And finally Ashley's mouth appeared a
smile to Erik.
Chapter 2
The next day, when Erik worked and went home at five o'clock in the
afternoon, he still see that Ashley still in a bad mood.
"What happen to you?" He asked after he closed the door,
"Weren't those forty dollars help you to buy everything you
want?"
"It did help me to buy a coat, but not a tie, those ties are
extremely expensive, I can't afford any one of those."
"Hmm..... let me think," Erik said slowly and said
again," I think someone can help you for a tie."
And so when Ashley had heard Erik's idea, then Ash went to Dan's house,
who is a best friend of Ashley. He asked Dan to borrow a tie for going
to the ballet. And Dan has no reason to refuse his request, so Ash
followed Dan and went to his bedroom and let him choose any tie you
want.
"Here you go, you could choose one of them, just choose the one you
think it's cool," Dan said to Ashley.
"Do you have other ties besides these 10?" Ashley asked after
look over those ties which Dan had taken out.
"Of course sure, just wait a second," he replied.
Dan took out other ties and let him choose again, and finally Ashley got
a good one.
"Wow, you got a good eye, this tie is the coolest and most hadnsome
ties in my house, and it's one of my favorite ties, and sure I will
borrow it to you because you're my best friend," he told him.
Chapter 3
Finally he went to the ballet, and he wore so handsome: a black coat
with a dark blue tie, and his blonde hair without any gel. He met his
old friends inside the ballet, and they met some beauties and danced
with them. They spent lots of time on dancing more than eating dinner in
there. And he got a lot of happiness in that night.
When Ash went home, he told Erik everything he did in the ballet.
Suddenly, he noticed that he lost the tie, which is the most expensive
one. He was so afraid of that.
"Did you lose it at the ballet or on your way home?" Erik
asked with fearfulness.
"The tie was with me all the time in the ballet, maybe I lost it on
my way home," he answered while he's thinking where he lost the
tie.
They went outside of the house, and tried to find the tie on his way
home, but they found nothing. They tired to call police or magazines to
help them to find the tie, but still no result.
The only way they could do is buy the tie which as same as the one he
borrowed from Dan. So Ash borrowed lots of money from lots of friends.
And so he got lots of loans. When he returned the tie which worth eight
hundred dollars and same as the one he lost to Dan, Dan didn't notice
that the tie is a new tie, and Ash didn't tell him the tie is new.
Chapter 4
From that time on, Ashley finally a job which has less salary and he
needed to earn money to pay off the loans. And finally he paid off all
the loans after a year of hard working.
One day, Ashley saw Dan on the street, and he wanted to tell the truth
to Dan. Now he could the truth because everything is same as normal. He
called Dan, and Dan turned back.
"Hey! What's up? How is it going?" Dan greeted to Ashley.
"Not too good, I was working hard and I have to pay all the account
on you," he answered.
Dan thought awhile, and asked again, "What do you mean by that? I
don't understand. Are you mistaken something?"
"You remember the dark blue tie which I borrowed from you? I lost
it at the ballet, and so I bought a new one for you, and it's worth
eight hundred dollars," he replied.
"What?" Dan wondered, "Are you serious?"
"Yes, I'm so sorry about that," Ash apologized to him.
"Oh my god! You're so nice...but... that is a fake tie, it wasn't
made of good quality, it's only worth 50 dollars," Dan said to him
with a little bit of apologize.
