Best Friends Or More?

Chapter 1

� I hate highway traffic! Now I�m not going to make it to the airport in time.� I screamed while sitting in my car, which was not even moving because the traffic was so bad. I knew she had to call Jacob to tell him she would be late. I grabbed my cell phone from my purse and dialled his number. The phone ring 5 times before Jacob picked up.

� Finally! My God what the heck took you so long to answer?� I questioned Jacob who I knew was laughing at me.

� Sorry Jen. I thought it was one of the guys calling me. So let me guess you�re going to be late.� I wondered how Jacob knew that. I guess it was a best friend thing. I was always on time or early for things and today I left early because I knew there would be traffic.

� Jacob, I left early, but I didn�t think it would be this bad. I hate highway traffic!� By this time Jacob was howling. I didn�t find it funny.

� Jacob, put a sock in it! We�re moving now! So I�ll call you when I�m about 5 minutes away. Bye Jake.� I said and hung up. I missed Jacob so much. I was so excited to see him. I then quickly rolled down the window to throw out my gum and the guy in the car next to me says:

� Nice car! Want to trade?� I laughed at him and rolled up my window. I always got a lot of com-pliments about my car. I have a Silver PT Cruiser. I had saved up for it for a long time and finally got it. It was the best car. I started to think about the day I bought it with Jacob. He came with me. I was then snapped out of my flashback when the car behind me honked his horn. I was thinking so hard about that day; I didn�t even realize the traffic started to move. I finally got off at my exit and called Jacob. The phone ringed twice.

� Ok Jacob, I�ll be there in two minutes.� I didn�t even let Jacob say anything. I just hung up the phone. I then pulled into the airport. Well not actually the airport, beside it. Jacob and I really wanted to drive down to Orlando. I got out of my car and went looking for Jacob. I thought I saw dreads so I went that way. Then there he was, right in front of me. I ran up to him and hugged him.

� Jake, it�s so good to see you. I missed you so much!� I said while we we�re still hugging.

� I missed you too. Wow. You look more beautiful then I last saw you.� I let go of Jacob and smiled at him. He was the best friend anyone could ask for.

� Well thank you. Trust me you look great too. So are you happy you got your dreads back in?� I asked him. Jacob�s dreads had started to fall out so he took them all out. He said once he came back to San Diego, he would get them back in and he did that before he came to see me.

� Yes! Ok well lets go; we don�t have a lot of time. Can I drive Jen?� He wasn�t really asking me since he grabbed the keys right out of my hand. He ran to the car and I ran after him. I figured I would let him do the highway driving since I hated it. We got in the car and Jacob made a face when he heard what kind of music I had on.

Chapter 2

� Teenybopper music? Jeez Jen, I thought you were past that stage.� I laughed and as he was about to change the station I grabbed his hand and gave him an evil look. Right away he took his hand away.

� Fine. We�ll listen to your crap half way and then we�ll listen to-� I cut him off.

� And then we�ll listen to your crap the other half.�

� My music is not crap. I listen to good music. Pop music is dumb! Boy Bands are dumb!� I laughed. I knew how much Jacob hated Boy Bands.

� Look you better watch what you say. You just mocked yourself.� He laughed and I turned up the radio. Then the radio announcer started to talk.

� You know these guys from �Making the Band.� I really have to say, this song has been re-quested a million times today. We�ve already played it 2 times this morning. I think this group is going to be bigger then BSB and �N Sync put together. What do you guys think? That�s going to be the talk of the morning. Also when you call we want you to say who your favourite O-Town member is. Ok we got our first caller.�

� Hello my name is Melanie. I know O-Town is going to be bigger then BSB and �N Sync put together. They have way more talent. They had way less time then BSB and �N Sync did, and they were still better.�

� That�s great! Now tell me and all the listeners, who�s your favourite member?�

� Definitely Jacob! I really hope Jacob isn�t listening to this station right now because I know how much he hates being loved. I also really miss you Jen! I hope you have fun in Orlando!� I then looked over at Jacob who was smiling. I really wish he would be more kind to the fans. I mean, if O-Town didn�t have fans, they would be nowhere. Jacob doesn�t understand that. Also the Jen that the girl said she missed is I. I work at a local radio station, and I was on vacation to spend time with Jacob.

Chapter 3

� Ok now can we change the station? I really don�t want to hear my own song on the radio.� He looked at me and I nodded my head. He quickly changed it to some awful station that played rock music. I rolled my eyes and Jacob saw me.

� Oh come on. Rock music is great! And I�m starving. Ok let�s stop at this coffee place. Let me guess Jen, cappuccino and a bagel with cream cheese.� He said while making a funny face. I laughed at him and punched his arm.

� Yes. And let me guess Jake, a coffee with 2 creams, a little sugar and a donut.� He nodded his head. Jacob and I knew each other inside out.

In Orlando- In the O-Town house

� Ok now no flirting with the guys. I don�t want that.� Jacob said with a very serious look in his face. I knew he was joking and he started to laugh.

� Jake, I�ve met these guys before. Take a chill pill ok?� He laughed at me.

� I would take one but I�m all out!� I tried hard not to laugh. I just looked away. Then out of no-where, Erik came behind me and lifted me up! I was laughing really hard. He put me down and embraced me in a tight hug.

� Wow girl you look fine! I don�t know how Jacob can just be your friend.� I looked at him and smiled. Then Erik and I quickly looked at Jacob who was laughing.

� Ok now Erik if you can stop drooling over Jen for a few minutes, help me carry her stuff inside the house.� Jacob said with a serious look in his face. I knew Erik and Jacob could handle the luggage by themselves so I went inside the house to see the other guys.

� Hey guys I�m here!� I screamed knowing Trevor would be the first face I would see. I was right. I saw Trevor run in from the kitchen. He ran to me and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

� How are you Jen? It�s so good to see you.� I smiled at myself. I remember when I first come to Orlando, I was nervous about meeting these guys because I didn�t know what�d they think of me. I�m now really close to all of them. Trevor then let go of me and we walked outside.

Chapter 4

� Girl you got a PT Cruiser? Man I wish I could afford that!� I laughed and kissed him on the cheek. Then Ashley come up behind me and dragged me in the house. He had his hand on my mouth so I couldn�t talk. He then lifted me up over his shoulder and carried me back outside and threw me down on the grass. I was laughing and so was Ashley and the rest of the guys. He then sat on my stomach. He wasn�t actually sitting on my stomach, he was just pretending to. Then he started rubbing his butt on my stomach and I pushed him off. I was laughing so hard I could barely breath.

� I think I missed Ashley the least.� I said, still trying to catch my breath.

� Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it.� He then made a puppy dog face and I rolled my eyes. Then he sat on top of me and started to tickle me! I tired to push him off, but I�m too ticklish, so I was laughing.

� Ok you guys. That�s enough. Ashley this girl has so much luggage, we need you to be mature for five minutes and help us with her luggage.� Dan said who was still in shock about how much luggage I had. Ashley nodded his head and got off of me. Then he helped me up. When I was on my feet, he gave me a big hug. Once all the luggage was in the room where I was saying I unpacked it all. I was tired so I went to say good night to all the guys. First was Dan. I walked in his room and gave him a hug.

� Good night Dan!� I said while he was still hugging me. Then he let me go.

� Sleep tight. Don�t let the bed bugs bite.� I smiled and went to Trevor�s room. Just as I was about to give Trevor a hug, I realized he was asleep. I quickly gave him a kiss on the cheek and went into Ashley�s room. He was just sitting on his bed, practising �Love Should Be a Crime� on his guitar. He noticed me and put his guitar down. I went over to him and gave him a hug. He then pulled away and kissed me on the cheek.

� Good night Ash.� He smiled and nodded his head.

� Good night Jen.� I gave me another quick hug and headed for Erik�s room. When I walked in his room he had his glasses on and he was reading a book. I always knew under all that stupid stuff Erik did, he was very smart. I sat down next to him on his bed and he jumped a little. I guess I scared him.

� I�m sorry Erik, did I scare you?� I asked while looking at his book to see what he was reading.

� Nope you didn�t. Good night Jen.� I laughed a little and hugged him.

� Good night Erik.� He nodded his head and I headed for Jake�s room. When I walked in he was writing a song. I wasn�t too surprised. Jacob always wrote songs. He wrote beautiful songs. Whenever I was down about something, Jacob would write me a song and play it for me. When he played the whole world around us stopped.

Chapter 5

� Jacob that�s a beautiful song. You know you get better at writing songs everyday.� I said and he let out a little giggle.

� Thanks. I�m so happy you�re here. I missed you more and more each day. I mean I know I called you, but it�s not the same as seeing you.� I nodded my head. He was right. I really wished I could stay here forever. Everyday when I wake up, I look at the picture of Jacob and I on my desk, and missed him even more.

� Jacob you have no idea. I mean we each have our separate lives now. You have O-Town and I have the radio station. Both those things keep us super busy�� I was about to continue when my cell phone ringing cut me off.

� Hello.� I said wondering who it was. I figured it was my mom or my older brother calling to see how the ride was.

� Hi Jen this is Dillon. The first day you come back we were wondering if you and Cory would do an interview with �N Sync?� Dillon is my boss. I�m on the morning show. It�s called the � Jen and Cory Morning Show.� We are the most listened to D.J�s on the radio station so we were always asked to do the big interviews.

� Sure Dillon. As long as I don�t have to hang out with them after. You know how I fell about �N Sync.�

� Look, �N Sync asked that they go to brunch with you after the interview.� I knew Dillon was praying I said ok.

� Fine Dillon but only under 1 condition.� I said in a very serious tone.

� Name it Jen.�

� That soon I get to interview O-Town. I want Cory and I to interview O-Town. Fly Cory down to Orlando and we can do a show from here and interview O-Town.�

� Well since your best friends with O-Town ok. When do you want to do the interview?� I looked at Jacob who was very lost.

� Hold on Dillon. Let me check.� I put the phone down. I quickly explained everything to him, and he went to ask Mike Cronin. Then about two minutes later Jacob came up.

� Tell Dillon tomorrow morning.� I nodded my head and told Dillon just that. He said he would fly Cory down tonight. I knew I had to get well rested. I was meeting Cory to go over a few things at 4:30. A half an hour before the show starts. I quickly gave Jacob a hug and kiss and went to bed. I told Jacob to tell the other guys. They would be on the show at 8:00. I had to admit, even though I was here in Orlando with Jacob, I still missed my radio show. Cory always made me laugh and we had a lot of fun together.

Chapter 6

The next day- Cory and Jen Going over what to ask O-Town

� Ok so what kind of questions should we ask them?� Cory looked up from his paper.

� Well one about the 3rd Season of �Making the Band.� We�ll ask them if there�s going to be one.� Cory nodded his head and wrote it down.

� Ok how about who has girlfriends and who doesn�t?� Cory asked me, hoping I would say yes. I nodded my head and he wrote it down. Then Cory and I finished up our questions and had to put our head things on and get ready to start.

� We have a special surprise for all you guys! I�m here in Orlando and Jen�s here with me! To-day were going to be interviewing O-Town and Jen�s going to be with me this whole morning!� Cory said and looked at me.

� Hello everyone. I really missed you Cory.�

� I missed you too. The show is not complete without you. Well I hope all you O-Town fans are listening.�

� Call all your other O-Town fans and tell them O-Town well be joining us at 8:00.� I said with a lot of happiness in my voice. 7: 45. Still the Radio show.

� Hey guys, I just wanted to call in and say �Hi!�� Said one of our callers.

� Well �Hello� to you too. What�s your name sweetie?� I asked being very polite.

� My name is Sarah. I really missed you Jen. I wish you and Cory could do the show from Or-lando everyday. Cory isn�t funny. And without you the show is not funny at all.� I laughed. All our fans joked around with Cory.

� Well thank you very much. You know you guys can just not listen to the radio in the morning until I get back. I mean, Cory is boring by himself. I�m just joking Cory. You know I love you.� Our boss made a signal, which meant O-Town, is here.

� Well guess what all you O-Town fans? O-Town just arrived! They�ll be on after we come back from this commercial break.� I then pressed a button and it went to commercials. I got a hug from each of the guys and they shook hands with Cory. Then we all got back in our spots and got ready to interview O-Town.

� Ok we�re back and O-Town is ready to be interviewed.�

� And I�m actually standing 2 inches away from you. I can feel your breath.� Ashley said. Every-one laughed.

� Yah well she�s standing 0 inches away from me! So there Ashley!� Jacob said being funny.

� Ok now let�s keep this PG 13. We have young listeners. Ok so our first question for you guys is, is there going to be a 3rd Season of �Making the Band� and what�s it going to be about?� As Cory said that he looked at the guys.

� We have great news! There will be a 3rd season of �Making the Band.� We really actually have no idea what it�s going to be about.� Everyone laughed at Ashley�s answer.

� Well I think all the O-Town fans are very happy about that! Ok our next question is, what song are you releasing next? Please say � Love Should Be a Crime.�� The guys laughed.

� Sorry Jen, we�re not releasing �Love Should Be a Crime.� We�re actually releasing a song called �We Fit Together.� It�s not on our album, but it�s on the �All or Nothing� single and on the Dr. Doolittle soundtrack. We just finished taping the video for it. It�s a really great song.� Dan answered that question.

� Actually I heard that song at your concert. That song is very good.� I said while smiling at Dan.

� Ok so I wanted to ask this question. Who is single and who�s not?� All the guys, Cory and I laughed.

Chapter 7

� Well I think we�ll let Jacob answer this question. Go ahead Jacob�

� Thanks Trevor. Well Ashley is single, but not really. He is single, but he loves Shelli. Trevor and Dan are single. I�m, as I�m sure most of you know, am dating Janie.� Jacob was about to finish when I interrupted him.

� I think Erik wants to answer his status himself.� I said while everyone else laughed.

� May I just add to Jacob�s answer that not only is he not single, he�s best friends with your fa-vourite morning radio D.J, Jen.� I laughed and so did everyone else.

� That�s right. That�s why I�m in Orlando. I have known Jacob my entire life. He�s my best friend.� We continued the interview and then the show was done.

� I want to thank Cory and our boss Dillon for flying, Cory and all the equipment down to Orlando at the last minute. Have a fun week and a half without me. I love y�all. Peace.� I then pressed the button and it went to commercials.

� Alright Cory we have to go back to San Diego.� One of the equipment men said. He frowned and shook hands with all the guys and gave me a hug.

� Bye Cory! Have fun without me!� I said while he was walking away.

� Ok so we have a day off. What are we going to do?� Erik then grabbed my hand and pulled me to my car. The other guys followed.

� We could go bowling.� I said while looking at Jacob. Before Jacob became famous, Jacob and I used to go bowling all the time. Everyone just nodded their heads. Then they all went to their cars.

� Well I don�t know my way around Orlando. Someone has to come with me.� I said while mak-ing a sad face.

� I�ll go with you Jen! Ok so were going to go to the one we usually go to right?� Jacob asked while looking at the guys. Erik nodded his head and we all got in our cars. I got in the drivers seat and turned up the radio. I started to talk to Jacob. While I was talking, he looked like he wasn�t even listening. I knew something was up.

Chapter 8

� Jake, what�s wrong?� I looked over at him and for the first time this whole car ride he actually looked at me.

� Nothings wrong Jen. I�m perfectly fine.� I didn�t buy it. I�ve been best friends with Jacob forever so I know when something was wrong.

� Jacob don�t lie. You�re talking to your best friend here. I know when something�s up. Now tell me.� I knew Jacob wanted to tell me.

� Do you have feelings for Erik?� I looked at Jacob in shock. I mean I sort of did have feelings for Erik, but I wasn�t going to tell Jacob that.

� What planet are you on Jacob. Of course I don�t have feelings for Erik! I have a boy friend.� I said in an unconvincing voice. I knew it was wrong to have a boyfriend and have feelings for another guy.

� I know you have a boyfriend! That�s why you shouldn�t have feelings for another guy.� I was wondering why Jacob even cared if I had feelings for Erik. I mean I�m only human.

� That�s not the reason Jacob. Tell me the real reason.� I looked at him. I really wanted to know the answer.

� Maybe you should break up with your boyfriend.� He looked at me. It wasn�t a very serious relationship, but I couldn�t do that. I mean when I was missing Jacob, he was there for me.

� No way! Jacob drop it! I may have feelings for Erik, but I have a boyfriend. End of discussion!�

I said it all very loudly and Jacob stopped. Then we pulled up into the bowling alley parking lot and I parked my car beside Erik�s. Erik looked at Jacob and I, and knew something happened, but he wasn�t going to get in the middle of it all.
� Ok guys, let�s go bowling!� Trevor said very loudly and a few people looked at us. Then we all started laughing. We then walked into the bowling alley, got our shoes and started to play.

� Strike!� I said at the top of my lungs. By this time a few people were looking at me, and to make matters worse, Erik came up behind me and twirled me around. While he was doing that he was saying:

� I love you Jen! I love you Jen!� As a joke of course. While Erik was doing this I could see Ja-cob from the corner of my eye. He looked pissed off. Then Erik put me down. Everyone was looking at us weirdly; even Trevor, Ashley and Dan were looking at us funny. Erik and I just ig-nored the people. That�s one of the many things Erik and I have in common, we can tune out people so easily. Jacob then got up, since it was his turn, and rolled the ball. He did pretty well. Then next was Erik. He rolled the ball and got a gutter ball. All the guys laughed at him. He was laughing himself. I then went up to him and decided to help him learn how to bowl.

� Erik stand like this and hold the ball like this.� Erik did as I told him. I then nodded my head and he rolled the ball and only didn�t knock down two pins. All the guys clapped except Jacob. I de-cided I had enough of Jacob acting like this so a grabbed his hand and pulled him away from the rest of the guys.

� What the hell is your problem?� I said while giving him an evil look.

� Well could you and Erik�s flirting be any more noticeable. You guys are making a scene in the bowling alley. Everyone was looking at you guys.�

� Oh give it up Jacob! Tell me what the real problem is here?� After I said that Jacob looked at the ground.

� I have feelings for you Jen.� I looked at Jacob in shock.

Chapter 9

�What? Jacob did you just say what I think you said?� I said while looking at Jacob.

� Yes Jen I did!� Jacob then leaned in and gave me a kiss. I tired to push him off, but he wouldn�t let me. Also at this point Erik, Trevor, Ashley and Dan were looking at us.

�Jacob are you nuts! You have a girlfriend and I have a boyfriend! You can�t just kiss me when-ever you feel like it!� I said trying to keep my voice down. Erik, Trevor, Ashley and Dan were right behind us now, but both of us didn�t see them.

� Ok, that�s weird. Because not 20 minutes ago did you tell me you had feelings for Erik!� Jacob said also trying to keep his voice down.

� Jacob that is a totally different thing! Yes I do have feelings for Erik, but I�m not kissing him or trying to. What you did was totally different and you know that!� I said. I then got up and turned around, but bumped into Erik. He looked like he was in shock. I wanted to get away from Jacob, but I wanted to explain everything to Erik. I grabbed Erik�s hand, and brought him outside.

� Erik I guess you now that I have feelings for you?� I said looking at the ground.

� Yes I do. I also have feelings for you. I was just scared to tell you, because you have a boy-friend and then you would hate me.� Erik said.

� Erik I could never hate you. And even though right now I�m really pissed off at Jacob, I could never hate him either. He�s my best friend. And I know he doesn�t have feelings for me. There�s something he�s not telling me.� I said. Erik nodded his head in agreement. Then about five sec-onds later Trevor, Ashley, Dan and Jacob walked out of the bowling alley.

�Jacob you�re riding with me.� I yelled and he got in my car. I gave Erik a smile. Everyone else got in Erik�s car.

�Ok Jacob come on fess up. You don�t really have feelings for me. Now tell me the whole truth, the honest truth and nothing but the truth.� I said while looking at Jacob. I then turned my head and focused on the cars.

� It�s about Janie. I know you know something. Now please tell me.� Jacob said and grabbed my free hand and held it tight. The truth is I do know something about Janie, but I couldn�t tell Jacob because it would break his heart. My other best friend named Sarah, have been seeing Janie going out with other guys.
� Jacob it�s gonna break your heart. Sarah and I have been seeing Janie going out with other guys.� I said while trying to see Jacobs�s reaction.

Chapter 10

�Jacob talk. Say something please.� I said while looking at Jacob.

�This can�t be happening! I never thought Janie would do that.� Jacob said, trying to hold back tears.

�Jacob why didn�t you just ask me that? Why did you say you had feelings for me and why did you bring my feelings for Erik in this?� I said while looking at the road.

� I don�t know. I was just upset that you didn�t tell me about it. You�re my best friend Jen, your supposed to tell me these things.� Jacob said.

� I�m sorry Jacob. I didn�t want you to get hurt. I love you and that�s why I didn�t tell you. Jacob you�re a great guy and I know there�s a girl out there for you. You just gotta look for her.� I said while looking at Jacob through the corner of my eye.

�Look I�m sorry for bringing your feelings for Erik into this. I just think you guys would make a good couple.� Jacob said. He was looking at me.

� Yes we would Jacob, but I have a boyfriend.�

� Look that relationships not serious. You said that yourself. And I know for a fact that he wasn�t there for you when you were missing me, Sarah was.� Jacob said while looking out the window.

� Your right. Pass me my cell phone.� I said. Jacob grabbed my purse and threw me my cell phone. I dialled his number. He didn�t pick up for 5 rings.

� Hello� He said in a sleepy voice. He couldn�t have just got up; it�s 4:00 pm.

� Hey James. It�s me Jen.� I said. He sounded like he was worried when I said it was I.

� Oh hi. How are you?� He said. I was very suspicious. He always calls my baby. He didn�t even say my name.

� Ok spill! Why are you acting so weird?� I said kind, of yelling.

� Hold on 1 sec.� He said and then I heard a door slam.

� Jen I don�t think this relationship is going to-� I didn�t let him finish. I hung up the phone. Jacob looked at me funny.

� He�s cheating on me. He had a girl over there and he was just breaking up with me.� I said. I was laughing, but I was also sad. Then the phone rang. I knew it was James.

� James I know that u were going to break up with me. I saved you having to say it. I also-� I got cut off by the sound of Erik�s voice.

� Chill Jen it�s me. So I guess that means your single?� Erik said. I laughed.

� Yes it does. Why do you care?� I said, playing hard to get.

� Look were home already. So hurry it up.� He said and hung up the phone. I laughed. Then I pulled into the O-Town house driveway. I got out and Erik lifted me up and hugged me. He then put me down and gave me a kiss. Over the next couple of weeks while I was there, Erik and I went out on 2 dates, I hung out with the guys and did a lot of fun stuff.

Chapter 11

The Day Jen�s leaving.

�Guys I�m going to miss you.� I said while giving Trevor a hug. I then hugged Dan. Then Ashley.

� Well we�re not going to miss you.� Ashley said while hugging me. I gave him a puppy dogface.

� I�m just joking. Well u better come visit soon. Now we have two men who need you. Geez. It was bad enough having Jacob miss you, now we will also have Erik missing you too.� I laughed and gave him another hug. Then it was Erik. I ran into his arms and hugged him for about 2 minutes. He then let go of me and gave me a long passionate kiss. I didn�t want to leave. I was going to miss Erik so much. Before I got in the car, I ran to Erik and gave him a picture of the two of us. I got doubles so we could both have 1. I gave him 1 last kiss and got in my car. Since Jacob was driving me back down to San Diego, I was going to say goodbye to him there. In San Diego.

� I�m going to miss u sooooo much Jacob.� I said while giving him a hug.

�I�m going to miss you too Jen. Ok so were going to call each other more often and tell each other everything. Even if it�s going to hurt the other person.� Jacob said, who was still hugging me. I then let go of him and gave him a kiss.

� You got it Jake. When you get back tell Erik he has to call me every single day.� I said and Jacob nodded his head. I gave him 1 last kiss and hug and got into my car. He watched me leave and waved goodbye. I drove home. I was already missing Erik and Jacob. I couldn�t stand this. I need them. I can�t live without them. I quickly turned around and started to drive back to Orlando.

The next Day when Jen arrives back in Orlando

I got out of my car and knocked on the door. Erik came to the door. When he saw it was me, his mouth opened.

� Jen, what are you doing back in Orlando?� Erik said.

� I�m back because I can�t live without Jacob, you and the rest of the guys. I�m moving to Orlando.�
