CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE ~ You're Different From the Rest

"Jacob, I don't want you to leave," Nicole whispered when she was sure that Rachel was out of hearing distance.
"Nic, I don't want to leave, but I have a feeling that if we break the rules anymore tonight both of us are going to be in more trouble then we already are!"
"I'm 18 years old, and I can make my own decisions in life.  Rach, although she's been very kind to me, is not my mother and I won't let her tell me how to live my life.  I want to be with you tonight Jacob.  Please let me go back to your house with you."
    "But, Nikki," Jacob started.
"Please," Nicole begged batting her long eyelashes.
"Go upstairs and get a change of clothes for tomorrow.  I'll meet you in the van, but you have to promise me that you'll admit to this as being your idea.  I don't want to get kicked out of 'the band' now that I've made it this far."
"I promise," Nicole squealed as she wrapped her arms around Jacobs neck giving him one last kiss before going upstairs to get her clothes.  "Alright, I'm ready.  Now we just have to get out of here without waking anyone up."
"Don't worry about it just lets go," Jacob smiled secretly happy that Nicole had chose to stay with him for the remainder of the night.
They arrived back at the house a couple minutes before 3:00 and everyone was sleeping.  Jacob led Nicole by the hand down the hall and into his room.  "Damn it Nic, I forgot your brother is one of my roomates," he whispered.
"Nothing to worry about Jake.  Just like Rach, my brother can't run my life," Nicole assured as she slipped out of her clothes and into Jacobs football jersey that was hanging on his doorknob, then into the empty bed which she assumed was his.
    "What are you doing?"
"Getting ready for bed.  What does it look like I'm doing?"
"I'll go and get on the couch then," Jacob looked confused.
"No you won't.  Come on theres lots of room," Nikki moved over motioning for Jacob to join her.  He didn't think twice about the offer and was in the bed before Nicole could change her mind.
"Your a nutcase you know that," Jacob began nuzzling on her neck.  "You in the same room as your over protective brother, and your seducing one of his best friends."
"I'm just showing you O-Town boys what Cali girls are really made of!"
"Hmm, I like it," Jacob continued to kiss Nicole trying not to be too loud and disturb his roomates.  Then what was happening hit him.  "Nikki, wait, we can't do this!  You and I we can't.  Not here not right now.  It's not that I don't want to because believe me I do, but we can't."
"You don't find me attractive," Nicole pulled back tears beginning to form in her eyes.
"Nic, you know I do.  I think your the prettiest girl in the world, but I can't do this with you."
"Fine!" Nicole huffed as she pulled on the closest pants she could find, and headed out towards the living room.
"Nic, wait, please," Jacob continued to follow her.
Nicole continued walking until she ran into a tall mysterious figure which was stunned by the company at the wee hours of the morning.  "Nicole!?!?!?!"
"Trevor," Nicole threw her arms around his waist.  "Please, Trevor, can you take me home?"
"What are you doing here Nikki?"
"It doesn't matter.  It was all a mistake.  Please Trev, can you take me home?"
"It's almost 4:00 in the morning.  You want me to drive you home right now?"
    "Yes, right now!"
"Let me get a shirt and some shoes.  I'll meet you in the van."
"Nic, wait," Jacob stood in the doorway as she walked towards the van.  "Nicole, please, why are you doing this?"
"Jacob, I thought we had something good.  I'm sorry, that you weren't happy with me."
"Nikki, I was happy with you.  I just think that maybe we shouldn't be moving so fast.  You're very special to me.  Will you go with me down to the beach to talk?"
    "You want to talk?"
"Yes, I do.  Now will you please go with me?"
"I guess so," Nicole stepped out of the van and headed towards Jacob.
"Where do you two think your going?" Trevor came out of the house dressed and ready to go.
"Trevor, your assistance won't be needed tonight.  Thanks anyways.  We're going down by the water to talk."
"Nicole, wait, here take my coat.  It's kind of chilly out there tonight," Trevor walked up and wrapped his coat around her shoulders.  "I don't know about the two of you, but I'm going to bed.  We have to be up early in the morning.
Jacob and Nicole walked hand in hand down to the water side.  The waves were coming in washing up rocks and shells.  They found a spot a ways down where the sand was dry and took a seat.  "Nikki, why did you feel you had to be so forward with me tonight?"
"It's what you wanted.  Its what all guys want."
"No its not.  I wanted to have a good time with you, and I did.  When you started moving quicker I was caught up in the moment, but I shouldn't have even brought you back here with me.  A real gentleman would have kissed you goodnight and phoned you in the morning."
"I've never had any guy do that.  Every guy I've ever dated has wanted something more from me and I wouldn't give it so they broke up with me.  I wanted to keep you and develop a relationship with you, so I thought that..."
"You thought wrong.  I want to get to know you and date you Nicole, but I don't want to use you for sex.  Your too special of a person to be hurt like that."
"For real?  You'd like to see me again even if I didn't sleep with you tonight?"
"Of course sweetheart, and even if I didn't I would," he joked hoping to see a smile come across her face.  "Thats what I wanted to see.  You have a beautiful smile."
"Thank you Nicole blushed.  Thank you for helping me to realize that I'm better then most of my boyfriends have treated me," she took Jacobs arm and wrapped it around her shoulders as she snuggled down into his chest and looked out at the ocen where the sun was beginning to rise.
