IOAN BOB School

I am sending you some information about our school,"Ioan Bob" School
in Cluj- Napoca, Romania.
The beginnings of our school go back to the last century when, 150 years ago,
its spiritual mentor, the Greek-Catholic bishop Ioan Bob, inaugurated the first
Romanian school.Year after year, school children and teachers contributed in
promoting the renown of the oldest"intra urbis" Romanian school.
The target of the school and of the whole educational system in Romania is increasing
the quality of education.
IOAN BOB school promotes Romanian and universal cultural and spiritual values.
It offers the schoolchildren, whatever the ethnic group or the religion they
belong to, the opportunity to acquire, to understand and to respect the European
cultural and spiritual values in order to accept them and to integrate the Romanian
values into the continental ones.
The school offers appropriate conditions for the diversified access to information
in nine specialised laboratories: Computers, Romanian, English, French, Geography,
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Arts.
The school provides assistance to children with speech problems( logopedia).
It also has a gym with two locker rooms, a workshop, a library and the headteachers'room,
the teachers' room, two secretary offices,accountant,school doctor and a snacks
shop.
This school year(2003-2004) 661 pupils learn in our school, 15 primary level
classes and 13 secondary level classes. There are 19 classes with intensive
English teaching and a number of 61 pupils were selected for the Centre of Excellency,
which offers the best of the best pupils the opportunity to study at a higher
level than the curricular requirements.
The school success is ensured by a number of 55 devoted teachers, 15 at the
primary level and 40 at the secondary level, and of course by the pupils'interest
in aquiring knowledge.
The three buildings of IOAN BOB School are situated in the centre of Cluj-Napoca,
within the small area between St.Michael Cathedral and IOAN BOB Church, at Nr.10
