CUMBERLAND COUNTY IN WINTER
This is the marsh area on Wheaton Island Road, Greenwich, Cumberland County. This photo was taken at 3 PM. A nice sunny day with blue sky. But, temperature was dropping quickly. Notice cloud formation building up.
This photo was taken at 3:30 PM on the road to Hancocks Harbor in Greenwich, Cumberland County. This is about 2 miles south of Othello. Note how the sunlight on the horizon has backlit the trees.
This is East Point in Maurice River Township, Cumberland County. This lighthouse is about 10 miles south, as the crow flys, from Greenwich. The snow clouds, we had heavy flurries for about 15 minutes are moving in from the North. It was still clear to the south. The time was 4:50 PM, the sun was going down. The sunset horizon line was red and pink, and perpendicular to the lighthouse. Not being a meteorologist I am sure this is what accounts for the somewhat purple tinged sky in the background.
South Jersey has great atmospheres and brilliant sunsets. If you are an artist you should really make a point to visit this area. What you see on this page is what I saw with the naked eye. All three of these photographs were taken on or near the Delaware Bay shoreline. I used a Minolta Dimage 7i digital camera set for vivid color rendering.
