The Church itself . . . Having gained entry, the interior of the church was, Photographically, a revelation: its rather dour red-brick facade hiding a richly detailed interior. Entry to the church itself was gained via a warren of ante-rooms and emerging into the main space for the first time had all the impact the architect no doubt intended. The building remains remarkably intact given that it was prey to all manner of intrusion and depridation in the immediate aftermath of its closure as a place of worship. |
