When I embarked on this project I wanted to engage with peoples fantasies about different places, different environments which played a part in their lives. This was, I told myself, a whimsical, lyrical idea, from which I wanted to create a magical, 'fantastic' piece of work. I hoped people had a fanatasy life which underlay their relationships to key locations. I felt they must have, but I could not at the outset have anticipated the strength of feeling that peoples' relations to places could generate.
