RE: BARRY WEISLEDER
Barry Weisleder, President of the Qccasional Teachers' Bargaining Unit [OTBU], had a number of complaints filed against him by members of the OTBU. These complaints were processed through the internal judicial procedures in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of OSSTF. "
Judicial Council found Barry Weisleder guilty of a number of the charges. As a result, the Judicial Council determined that Barry Weisleder be reprimanded, suspended from all OSSTF offices he currently holds for the remainder of the terms, and declared ineligible to hold OSSTF office for a period of 18 months from the date the suspension takes effect.
The decision of Judicial Council was appealed by both the Respondent (Barry Weisleder) and the Complainants (Liz Barkley et al). The Provincial Council Appeals Committee upheld the decision of Judicial Council and partially upheld the appeal of the Complainants. The penalty was increased from 18 months to 32 months to cover the period from January 1st, 2003 up to August 31st, 2005.
As a result of this decision, the Province has assumed the responsibility for bargaining and has appointed Jim Douglas as the Executive Officer in charge and Moe Jacobs as the Chief Negotiator.
