Game Summary

Chelmsford - Not a good day, Cubs fans.

Timely hitting by the Red Sox and sloppy play by the Cubs led to a 19-7 loss to drop the Cubs to 3-5 on the season.

There are no pitching or fielding highlights for the Cubs, except Tom Knox pitched a decent eighth and ninth innings.  Duffy Thomas took the abuse giving up 13 runs (7 earned) in six innings on 17 hits, four walks and eight strikeouts.

Hitting, Chuck Trafton, Steve Johanson, Scott Van Winkle and Jason LeFebrve each collected two hits and Knox collected three.

Knox collected two triples and two RBI, while Marvin Ritchie, Trafton, Thomas, Van Winkle and Randy Ochab each hit doubles.

Steve Johanson and Chuck Trafton were selected to represent the Cubs at the All-Star game.  Johanson declined the invite and Marvin Ritchie will take his place.
