Game Summary
| Dracut - The Cubs evened their record at 2-2 with a 5-4
come from behind win over the Phillies. Chuck Trafton pitched a
complete game to go to 1-1 on the year.
The Cubs took an early lead in the top of the first on a groundout RBI by Jason LeVebrve scoring Duffy Thomas. But the Phillies took the lead right back with two in the bottom half of the first. An RBI triple by Gerry Kohl knocked in Trafton in the second to even the score. The score stayed tied until the fourth when the Phillies strung a few hits together to plate two runs and go up by two. Trafton and Phillies starter Ronnie Perrin traded scoreless innings until the top of the eight when Ricky Greenhalge broke out of a season long slump with 2-run single scoring Trafton and Kohl to tie the game. After holding the Phillies in the bottom of the eight, the Cubs scored the go ahead run as Thomas singled for his third hit of the game, stole second, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a Jack Muse infield single. Trafton retired the side in the ninth for his first complete game. Trafton struck out 13 while only walking one batter. Trafton also contributed three hits with two stolen bases and two runs scored on the offensive side. Jack Muse also added two hits. The Cubs next play the Twins on Sunday at Hadley Park. Tom Knox will take his 1-0 record to the mound and try to put the Cubs over .500 on the season. |
