Game Summary

Tewksbury - a rainy, sloppy day turned out worse for the Cubs as they dropped to 6-2 decision to the Pirates.  The loss drops the Cubs to 0-2 on the young season.

The Pirates scored first plating two runs in the fourth.  The Cubs clawed their way back to a tie in the fifth and sixth innings.

Jack Muse scored on a Tom Knox infield single in the fifth.  In the sixth, Randy Ochab drove in Jason LeFebrve with the tying run.  LeFebrve had lead off the sixth with a ringing triple.  The triple was the fourth triple by  the Cubs on the season.  Last season the Cubs only managed one triple all season long.

After LeFebrve scored, Jim Harvey relieved Don Lamb for the Pirates and the Cubs would score no more.

The Pirates scored four in the seventh to make a winner of Harvey (1-0).  The inning saw several errors lead to the Pirates runs.  Chuck Trafton (0-1) took the loss despite only giving up one earned run out of the six scored.  Trafton struck out 10 and walked three.  Trafton has struck out 16 batters in only 11 innings on the season.

The Cubs try to right the ship next Sunday versus the Yankees at Gage Park.  Tom Knox will take the hill in his first start of the season.
