Dragon Ball

Dragonball, the tale of a Monkey King, twisted beyond recognition.

Localization - 5/5

Even though it was originally based on an old Chinese folk story, Dragonball is still quite easy to get into. Its usually one of the first series a growing Otaku see's.

Animation - 3/5

Pretty good, most of the time. Oddly enough, the worst animation is during the fight scenes, where you get a really good look at the landscape as the fighters move around so fast you cant see them except for ghost images, gusts of wind, and speed lines. Despite that, its still fun to watch.

Plot - 4/5

Dragonball was originally based on Saiyuki (Journey to the West), the story of Son Goku the Monkey King. However, after Son Goku meets the great Kamesennin (Master Roshi) the Turtle Hermit, Saiyuki gets thrown out the window as we follow Son Goku the Monkey Boy as he journeys to become the strongest fighter in the world. Along the way he meets weird aliens and even weirder Earthlings. This makes for an odd, yet strangely entertaining, show. He also tries to collect the seven Dragonballs (no, not that kind, stop thinking like that, this isnt a Hentai site). When collected the seven Dragonballs will summon ShenLong the Eternal Dragon, who will grant any one wish to whomever summoned him.

Presentation - 5/5

Dragonball is presented very well, the story is easy to get into and moves along nicely. The fight scenes are great, and theres tons of action and comedy that mix nicely to keep you interested between the fights. This all comes together to create an awesome anime series and one of my favorites.

Overall - 5/5

Well, based on the other ratings this should only get a 3, but watch it just once and you will see why I had to give it a 5. KAMEHAMEHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
