They were going to catch her and there was nothing that she could do about it. She wasn’t sure what they would do if they caught her but she was sure it wasn’t going to be pretty. Branches slapped her face. She brushed them away with her arms and kept running. Trees zoomed in and out of her vision as she raced around them.
I hope I lose them soon, she thought,
She heard the sounds of the soldiers behind her, crashing through the forest.
I don’t think I’m going to lose them any time soon.
Then the forest ended.
"Kuso," she muttered.
There was a short clearing and then a cliff. Next to the cliff there was a huge waterfall. The cliff was really the side of the river.
"Ha,ha,ha,ha! We have you now!" a voice laughed from behind her.
She whirled around to face a soldier in metal armor. There were many more behind him. Too many to fight. The girl looked with indecision between the cliff and the soldiers.
"There is no escape for you! You might as well surrender, sorceress!" the soldier said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Who sent you? Tell me!" the girl cried.
"Why should we tell you?" the soldier retorted.
"Well, you’re going to kill me anyway, so what do you have to lose?" the girl asked.
"Well, just to spite you, I won’t give you a name but I will tell you this: an old friend has come to visit," the soldier said and then began to laugh maniacally.
"But enough of this chit-chat. Now you shall die, witch. Your magic won’t save you now," the soldier said and took a step towards her.
"I don’t think so," the girl said, turned around, and ran to the edge of the cliff.
She took a deep breath and leaped.
Sai inhaled the salty sweet air of the ocean and opened his eyes to the clouds above. After the battle with Talpa, the Ronin Warriors all felt weak. Sai had picked the beach to relax. He had been there since this morning. Sai had left for the beach a little after Ryo and Uli had left for the park. He sighed.
It’s so peaceful here. Just think of what it would have been like if Talpa had won. All this beauty would’ve been destroyed, he thought.
Seagulls flew overhead, squawking as they soared across the sky. Sai closed his eyes and listened to their cries until he noticed that the seagulls’ cries were not the only screams that filled the air. He quickly jumped up from his laying position and scanned his eyes across the water.
Suddenly, he spotted something. As he squinted, he saw what looked like to be a human, they were too far away to tell if it was a boy or a girl, swimming desperately to get away from what looked like to be....Talpa’s soldiers!
That’s impossible! We destroyed the Dynasty! Talpa is dead! But if his tinheads are here, what did that mean? Sai thought. His mind came upon an even more horrible thought.
If his soldiers are back, then does that mean that.....Talpa’s back? He thought in horror.
A piercing cry filled the air. The human that the soldiers were chasing was becoming tired and slowing down. The soldiers were moving in for the kill.
I’d better help, Sai thought.
"Armor of TORRENT!" he transformed into his full armor and dove into the water.
He reached the human pretty quickly. A soldier was about to slice them open from behind with a knife when Sai intervened.
"Swim for the shore!" he yelled.
The human wasted no time following his order. Sai began fighting the soldiers but there were too many. They were pushing him back, towards the shore.
"HII-YAA!!" Sai heard a war cry.
He took a quick look behind him towards the shore. The human had reached the shore and was now fighting off the oncoming soldiers with two daggers with much skill.
"All right, that’s it! SUPER WAVE SMASHER!" Sai yelled, performing his most powerful attack.
The attack took care of the remaining soldiers in the water. But most of them had gone right by Sai to the shore where the other human was. Quickly, Sai swam to the shore to give his help.
The human was on it’s back holding off a soldier’s sword with it’s two daggers. Sai finally got a good look at the human and saw it was a girl about his age.
"Mind if I cut in?" he asked and used his spear to shishkabob the soldier in the chest. The girl rolled out of the way and jumped to her feet. She took a fighting stance.
"Thanks. Watch out, there’s more coming," she said.
The girl was right. No sooner had she said that, three soldiers attacked Sai. He fought them all off and saw the same had happened to the girl. But she was doing fine and could take care of herself so he focused his attention on fighting the rest of the soldiers. Soon, there was no more standing. Sai turned to the girl.
"Are you okay?"
She smiled and said, "Sure, never been better."
Then her face took on the look of a boxer that’s been hit too many times.
"Or not," she groaned and then fainted.
Sai caught her before she hit the sand on the beach and laid her down gently. He transformed back into his regular clothes. Sai picked up the girl and walked towards home.
