| So...what the heck is yaoi? Well let's start with the basics first. If you are an avid GW fanfiction reader you might have noticed that some people put a bunch of numbers in their warning like 1+2 or 5+13 and stuff like that. In the fanfiction world the numbers are telling you what the pairing is for that particular fic. Each number represents a character. For example: 1 = Heero Yuy 2 = Duo Maxwell 3 = Trowa Barton 4 = Quatre Winner 5 = Wufei Chang (or Chang Wufei, whatever you want to call him) 6 = Millardo Peacecraft/Zechs Merquise (or however you spell his last name) 9 = Lucretzia Noin 12 = Midii Une 13 = Treize Kusherenada (or however you spell HIS last name) Characters who are not pilots (mainly the female characters) are represented by their initials. For example: RP = Relena Peacecraft DC = Dorothy Catalonia CB = Catherine Bloom HS = Hilde Shei...Shiebak...however you spell her last name. SP = Sally Po Other animes have their pairing systems with initials also. If you were to read a Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon fic with the main pairing of Tsukino Usagi and Chiba Mamoru it would probably look like this: TU+CM When you are pairing two people together romantically you just add the numbers/initials. A fic with Heero and Relena as the main pairing would look like this: 1+R A fic with Heero and Duo as the main pairing would look like this: 1+2 If the pairing has a sex scene in it (sexual intercourse in a fic is called a LEMON, less graphic scenes are just LIMES) then the label would look like this: 1XR or 1X2 if it's a yaoi lemon. Which brings us to our next question: what is yaoi? Yaoi in the literal sense is a plotless gratuitous sex scene between two males. That's right. Homosexuality people. If this isn't your thing I suggest you only read the fics in the non-yaoi section. Yaoi fics usually have very little plot (though I always appreciate some included). They focus more on the physical descriptions of your basic sex scene, although there are many fics that include a yaoi lemon without making it the focus of the whole fic. If the pairing is still malexmale but there is no sex scene then it is considered shounen ai (literally: boy love). These fics usually go into more depth of character and building of plot. A fic with plotless gratuitous sex between two females is called yuri. You won't see it as often as yaoi, but there are some amazing fics with yuri pairings out there. Without the sex scene, yuri becomes shoujo ai (literally: girl love). Fics with standered heterosexual pairings are usually just labelled het. All of the fics on my site will be clearly labelled, with all pairings stated. Therefore there is no reason for anyone to become offended by anything they read here. If you do not agree with the pairing, simply press your back button and find something else to read. I am not your babysitter. I will not tell you how old you must be before entering this site or reading the lemon and yaoi fics.
