Since my start in Otakuhood a couple years ago, I noticed a lot of things with characters (mostly the sexy gals. grrrowl ^_^ ) but one characteristic stood out from the rest of them; most of the villainous women looked similar when it came to character traits. Thus I decided to call this genetic characteristic....

The Daitokuji Gene

A brief summary so everyone knows what I'm talking about

The Daitokuji Gene (or DK gene for short) was first noticed (by me) in the 1986 anime feature Project A-ko The Movie. A-ko was a normal school girl with superhuman strength in the not so distant future. Her friend was a small, loud little girl named C-ko and the two were close friends. One of her classmates, B-ko, was a wealthy girl and wanted C-ko for herself. Now look to the picture below. That's B-ko. As you can see, she's A) rich B) has curls on both sides in front of her ears C) long hair and D) she does carry herself in attitude and posture as a snooty young lady. It seems it appear almost exculsively to women  and the aforementioned list of characteristics are the signs of DK gene-carrying females.

You think this anime will be the only place you'll see such a thing? Think again..

Case #1: Nena Ha(r)gen (Series: Agent Aika) Nena is a member of a special tactics group funded by the KK Government along with her brother Rudolf. (Side note: My assumptions to this day is that the group is based in Germany or some Western European country) She has the physical makeup for the DK Gene, minus the fact her hair is pink. She's a baddie (like B-ko) but has this fetish for torturing members of her predominantly women group that fails in, let's say, missions (eg. whipping, spanking, etc.) Finally, has an undying hatred for spy Aika Sumergi (in analogy terms, B-ko:A-ko::Nena:Aika) who seems to mess up her and her brothers plans constantly.

Case #2: Reimi Jahanna (Series: Variable Geo )  Reimi is the founder for the Variable Geo tournaments. ( See her Bio ) She stands her ground quite well as an independent woman and has a fetish for roses. Despite her cold attitude to certain things, there's one unique physical aspect that goes with the DK Gene: her hair curls.  Their length goes from her head right to about the mid-section of her buxom chest. All in all, another perfect example of the DK Gene being passed on (probably from her mother Miranda Jahanna, who too had the same hair curls and was a baddie)

Case#3 Mystery baddie (Series: Samurai Girl Real Bout High School) Seen in episode 8, she carries the DK Gene: snooty, very sure of herself, and crafty. There's one exception: the sides of her hair aren't curled.

(If anyone can help my bad memory as to this woman's name, email me. I'll really appreciate it. )

Case#4: Emi Isuzu (Series: Tenjou Tenge) Emi is the vice-president of a rival martial arts club at Toudou Gakuen high school.  Like Nena, she too has a major rival: Maya Natsume. Although she's sexy, Emi can get brutal, especially if it's directed at Maya. As for her hair, all of it is curled (Reimi Jahanna style) and pink. (like Nena)

Case #5: Margarita (Series: Sailor Victory) Margarita's a powerful witch who's bent on eliminating the heroines in the show and taking over the world.  She has a staff like wand, which she holds onto quite a bit (possible wand obsession/fetish?) and uses for casting some of her spells. Miss Margarita has hair curls like all DKG-carrying women, but hers are on the sides of her forehead.

Case #6: Barbara Oiblert (Series: Sorcerer Hunters TV) Barbara is a wealthy sorceress with (what appears to be) split personalities: one being an innocent cute little girl, the other a whip wielding bunny girl/ dominatrix. The side hair curls, being rich and being a villianess are all good examples of this hereditary trait that she manifested.  Click here to view "The World's Only Shrine to Barbara Oiblert" (created by your's truly ;)  )

This page will be updated as I find other DKG females, so back to the main page.
