| Interview with Byron from GOD FORBID - New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, 2002, Worcester MA By Oswald Knox Knox: How's your band doing? Byron: Uh, we're doing pretty good. We been on the road for like 14 months now. Uh, you know, trying to hit every major market and minor market possible. You know, let them know that God Forbid exists and the music's out there. Knox: Awesome. Um, question number 7: Who would win in a fight, Steven Hawking or Walt Disney's freeze-dried, disembodied head? Byron: Uh, I have no idea what the hell you're talking about. Knox: Care to hazard a guess? Byron: Uh... hazard body head or something. Knox: Ok. Um, question number 5, um.... uh, do you hate the Swiss? Byron: No, not really. Knox: You don't hate Swiss people? Byron: No. No reason to hate em. Knox: Oh. Good answer. Uh... confirm or deny: Ozzy should be sanctified, if not deified, by all existing religions? Byron: Think, uh... Ozzy should be left alone, you know. He's done alot in his, uh, old age, and he's still running pretty strong, so... just let him be. Knox: Have you seen his MTV show? Byron: Yeah. It's pretty funny. Some parts of it are funny. HEY! (Yelling at some girl walking by) I'm doing fine. Don't go nowhere. Stand still. Girl: What? Byron: Stay right there. I don't care. Be right back. Hurry up! Knox: Aright, I'll be done with you in one second, here. Byron: No, it's cool. Take your time. Knox: Um, on to the, uh, the bonus round. I'm gonna fire off quick, uh, five quick questions at you. You got 15 seconds to answer each, and at the end we'll tally your score. Uh... number, question number one. Uh, Phyllis Diller or Chloris Leachman? Byron: Uh, Phyllis Diller. Knox: Question number two. Uh, how many elements in the periodic table? Byron: Uh, I think it's, uh, 26. Knox: Uh, question number 3. Finish this line "I did it all for the___". Byron: ... The money. Knox: Uh, question number 4. Uh, how many in a baker's dozen? Byron: 12. Knox: Uh, number 5. Question number 5. Your favorite color. Byron: Black. Knox: Black. Ok, um... stop the clock. Going back. Question number 1. Phyllis Diller or Chloris Leachman. Uh, I'm sorry. The answer is Ernest Borgnine from Airwolf. Byron: Alrighty then. Knox: Ok. Question number 2. Uh... number of elements in the peri- periodic table. Uh, the correct answer is "Who cares?" Byron: Ok. Knox: Ok. Question number 3. Uh, finish this line. "I did it all for the..." If you said nookie, that woulda been correct, but it woulda taken off points. You said "For the money." That's a good answer. That's one of the better ones I've heard tonight. Byron: Well, I need to live, man. I have bills and I need to eat to survive. Knox: Are you, are you making enough money from the uh, the metal thing? Byron: No, but I do it anyway. Knox: Good times. Uh... question number 4. How many in a baker's dozen. You said twelve? The answer is actually 13. Did you go to cul - uh - culinary school? Byron: Not yet but I probably will. Cuz cooking is how you get the women. Knox: God damn right. Uh, not that I would know. Question number 5. Favorite color. You said black. I'm sorry, the answer is "violet with lavender polka-dots." Byron: Well, I'd have to disagree cuz my favorite color is black. Knox: Um... very good then. Any, any parting comments? Byron: Uh... if you don't have God Forbid: "Determination", go out and get it. Uh, if not, look for "Reject the Sickness," the first full-length. And then, you know, from there, you might wanna get "Determination." But uh, we're working on some new material. And, uh, we'll - we plan on coming to a town near you. If not, hit godforbid.com, find out what we've been up to, what's going on, what our future plans are. And, just come out to a show, and then, um... we're showing proof. Knox: Aright, good times. Thank you for your time. Byron: No problem. |
