Summer Advances
(continued from page 1)

Eleven links and three cool advisors were able to participate in the second summer advance. The original plan was to go to Kings Island, but we decided that was too structured, so we just drove. We ended up spending the night at Becky Tippetts residence and dining at the Montgomery Inn- tasty! That night we realized that we needed to find something interesting to do with our Saturday, something most of us havent done in Columbus. Should we go to a museum? A zoo? A movie? No, most of us have done all that at home. We wanted to make money! The 97th should venture to the horse track! After an intense (or not so tense) game of Taboo, we hit the hay and dreamt of our winnings the following afternoon. We went to the track, and Kirk Strohman and Allison Specht taught us all how to gamble. They did a great job. Some were quick to learn, others not so much. Josh Harraman had his whole day paid for while David Tynan couldnt win a dime. Tippett finally won once by the time we left. Upon collecting our winnings, we ventured to the Strohman estate where we cooked out and swam. Sarah Elder then serenaded us with her melodic SPHINX 97 song, and we called it a night.

After an exciting summer of SPHINX advances and socials, we were all geared up to start the new year. We begrudgingly returned to classes, but hold close to our hearts the memories made during the childhood adventures of this past summer.
Fall Advance
(continued from
page 2)

No sooner had 21 links and three advisors found our seats high up in the bleachers of Camp Randall when the rain moved in.  The sky was angry that night with whipping winds and strong downpours.  Perhaps it was a sign of how our Buckeyes would perform.  As the final seconds ticked away reality sunk in...the miracle finish did not happen this time.  But the 97th class was there to see it and lend support to fellow honorary link, Coach Tressel.  The score did not end up in our favor, but the fall advance was a great success and no doubt a memory for all.
