Hungry (Falling On My Knees)

Jeremiah 31:25 – “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”

Many people eat at least 3 meals a day – some more and some less.  But the fact remains; every human being gets hungry and needs to nourish itself with food.  However, different types of food can affect how a person grows, just ask any health nutritionist.  If people were to always indulge in what they like to eat, it wouldn’t be very healthy would it?  While days from now there might not be a difference, months and years can take their toll.  Think about what you like to eat and think about what you need to eat.  There is a difference isn’t there?  Sometimes the foods we don’t find appealing actually help our bodies more than the foods we do like.

Take a look at the end of Ezekiel 2 and the beginning of Ezekiel 3.  While it may not always seem appealing, God’s Word tastes as sweet as honey and acts as nourishment to your soul.

Take a quick look at the Tour de France.  What are you first impressions when you see the cyclists?  Skinny guys who go “zoom”?  At the beginning of each day (and/or even end of each day), each cyclist must replace the calories that he has lost through physical exertion.  Each day, they don’t have snacks, they don’t have nice little meals…they have feasts.  Food will cover an entire table and the cyclist will eat and eat until every single scrap is gone.  All this is done in order to nourish the body once again.

So how is your spiritual life going?  Are you taking some time every morning to feed the hunger of your spiritual life with nourishment that your spirit groans for?  What good is it to starve yourself silly?  What good is it to simply snack on the Word, to only whet your appetite for more?  Do all that you can to enjoy the feast that is before you!

Do you go to the Lord with a big appetite?  Know that God is there to restore the lost appetites of the soul and to satisfy the deepest hungers of your spirit.

Song Lyrics:
Hungry I come to You
For I know You satisfy
I am empty but I know
Your love does not run dry
So I wait for You
So I wait for You

I'm falling on my knees
Offering all my needs
Jesus You're all
This heart is living for

Broken I run to You
For Your arms are open wide
I am weary but I know Your touch
Restores my life
So I wait for You
So I wait for You
