Who May Ascend

Psalm 24:3,4 – “Who may ascend the hill of the Lord?  Who may stand in His holy place?  He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to idol or swear by what is false.”

Psalm 15:1-2, 5b – “Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary?  Who may live on your holy hill?  He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart…He who does these things will never be shaken.”

How has your walk with God been recently?  Has it been steadfast or has it been one stumbling block after another?  Our spiritual lives often reflect our physical lives and how we interact with others.

This psalm contains a lot of instruction that are useful reminders in living Christ-like lives.  We are told to live faithfully, and not religiously.  Religion is a creation of the world, but faithful living is a personal and intimate relationship with God.  Instead of slander and gossip, which is speaking spiritual death, preach life by keeping your words holy and being constantly watchful of what you say.  Build up others in the faith, while refusing to except anything less.  Keep your promises even through times of trial, as it shows just how faithful you are.

What does it take to live in the house of the Lord?  What does it take to climb His hill?  Looking back on the lyrics, it seems to be a daunting task in today’s world.  But since we know that through our Almighty God all things are possible, our walk with God is a lot easier if we are willing to humble ourselves and let God increase in our lives.

May our lives be wholly devoted to You, Lord, and may we ascend the hill of the Lord with clean hands, a pure heart and full assurance of Your grace and mercy.

Song Lyrics:
Who may ascend the hill of the Lord
Who may be found in Your Holy place
Only those who are clean and pure in their hearts
Can make it to where You are

Chorus:
Do what you will, do what you want
we have decided to trust You only
We want to be whatever you are wanting
You are Lord of our lives

Who may ascend the hill of the Lord
who may be found in your holy place
only those who refuse to lift up their hearts
to anything else but you

(Girls) [sing 2x  without Guys]
Lord not my will but your will
let this be my cry

(Guys) [same time as Girls after two times]
We lay down everything
We give our lives to You
