| Last week we
looked over how God calls certain people to ministry.
For some, they heard the news and ran (Jonah) while others
were a bit hesitant (Ezekiel), while others took it to
heart and strived to see it through (Paul). So now
that you all have reviewed how God calls people and what
your response should be, we're going to cover what it
means to accept the calling and to pursue God
wholeheartedly. This
week we're going to cover what it means to have a
passionate pursuit for Christ. Anyone can pursue
Christ, but what does it take to do it passionately?
Passion will be the key word here. We're going to go
over the basics of Christianity with the help of a book
called Know Why You Believe by Paul Little.
We'll take a look at the
life of Elijah and his passionate pursuit for God along
with a brief glimpse at the life of the apostle Paul and
his ministry to bring the gospel to a new group, the
Gentiles - people like you, me, and just about everyone
else.
We'll talk about the
hardships people who are called to ministry sometimes face
along with various things going on in your lives. As
a friendly reminder, remember to come this week with your
Bible, a pen, and a notebook. I'll see you all this
Thursday at 2:00PM at Richard's house in Winter Park.
May God bless and continue to watch over you all.
For Ben,
please come prepared with the required materials.
You'll be answering a few questions. The goal this
summer will be to help you speak out more. You have
wisdom, now share it.
For
Helen, come prepared
to share what you're learning from daily devotionals.
Also, be prepared to answer questions about why you
believe in Christ.
For Jack,
please come prepared with the materials requested and a
quiet heart. Let me know how daily devotionals are
going and if they aren't going well, let's figure out a
way so that you will get that hunger for Christ in the
morning.
For Josh,
please come with ideas how to receive the fire of the Holy
Spirit again. Let me know how daily devotionals are.
Also come prepared to defend the faith.
For
Richard, you're on
the right track. Now prove that you can really run
this race. Come prepared to defend the faith.
