Individual Discipleship Plan

Specialized for: RICHARD

You claim that your walk with God is great...excellent, now back up your words with action.  I'm really going to hammer the concept of reading the Word into you if nothing else this summer.  Daily devotional guides like Daily Bread and Campus Journal are good, but it only provides you with one verse.  What good is it to simply snack on the Word?  What good is it to starve yourself silly?  What good is it to simply whet your appetite?  Enjoy the main course!

It seems like things are going well though.  You have indeed changed from three years ago when you were talking about beating up punk kids and arguing with your parents all the time.  It has been a blessing to see you grow in the faith and completely change your demeanor.

So with you, I also challenge you to find time in the mornings to have a quiet time with God.  Unless you are willing to let God control your life at the beginning of the day, you will never be able to catch up to the devil's schemes against you.

Please read through the little tract/Bible guide on Galatians that I gave you.  The book of Galatians covers much of the same topics as the book of Romans.  Picture a court room scene where you can be the judge and see how Paul defends himself from some of the charges some Galatians have brought upon him.

So this week's devotional guide (the stuff on Galatians is in addition to all this) is as follows:
- The Call of Ezekiel: The importance of reading the Bible and the willingness to tell others about the Good News
Ezekiel 2 & Ezekiel 3 (pay close attention to Ezekiel 2:9-3:8
     and Ezekiel 3:17-19)
- The Call of Jonah: An example of who not to be and how not to act when God calls us to do something
Jonah 1, Jonah 3, & Jonah 4 (pay close attention to Jonah and
God's conversation in chapter 4...compare this to Job and God's
     conversation from Job 40:1-42:6)
- The Call of Simon Peter: Yes, God can use anyone for His kingdom, even a stuttering fisherman
John 1:35-42 & Matthew 4:18-22 (the well known phrase "I will
make your fishers of men" is found here)
- The Call of the Apostle Paul:  We can either do this the nice way or the hard way...well, let's just say Paul chose the hard way
    Acts 9:1-31
