Individual Discipleship Plan
Specialized
for: JOSH
You're
definitely on the right track to renewing that hunger for God
and it's good to see you really are carrying out the readings
I've written out for you. Shows dedication and
perseverance, both good qualities of a leader.
However, you
are still lazy in your own way. You tend to let others
take the lead while you fall back and just enjoy the ride.
Where is the courage? Where is the leadership?
It's hard to find then others are much more willing to show
leadership potential.
Also, don't
ever feel like it's okay to work by yourself when you need
other people's help. Get off your perch and go find
help. Help never comes to you...you must go find it -
this was very apparent during the Defend Your Faith activity.
It's OK to rely on others sometimes and it's even strongly
encouraged if it will help you grow and learn. Sitting
around complacently being silent is not an option in the army
of God.
Remember that
pursuing God also means taking action. Who needs people
to ride along who know a lot but don't do much?
Passionately pursuing God requires even more than action, it's
the willingness to not only stand up but to step forward.
So here's this
week's reading plan:
- Warning Against
Idleness: Get up and do
something! Take courage and take charge!
2 Thessalonians 3:6-15
- The Rights of an Apostle:
While you may not become an apostle (church planter), what
Paul writes here should be key guidelines to any servant in
the church.
1 Corinthians 9
- The Duel: Elijah
against a thousand people who are trying to prove him wrong
(imagine playing Defend Your Faith with 1000 atheists,
agnostics, unbelievers, Mormons, JWs, Buddhists, etc.
questioning your faith and out to prove you wrong).
Where does his faith come from?
1 Kings 18:16-39 (and verse 40 if you're in the mood
for some
holy bloodshed)
- Guidelines for & the Passionate Pursuit:
See what Paul has to say about living for God and his example
for pursuing God wholeheartedly.
Ephesians 4:17-5:21
Philippians 3:12-21
- A Few Bits on Wisdom:
Some verses and passages to explore before next week's d-time
on wisdom.
Matthew 11:7-19 (focus on the last part of 19)
Proverbs 3:5-8
Remember
this week's key thoughts:
1.) Remember the Bereans (Acts 17:11)
2.) Defend the Faith (1 Peter 3:15)
3.) Build your life upon Christ (Jude 1:20)
4.) Trust God to provide the answers (Matthew 21:22)
