About the ClubWe meet weekly on Tuesday nights at 7:30 PM in Grey Suite E of the Ohio Union (basement). All are welcome. The weekly meetings are loosely organized with most people playing casual games, some with clocks, some without. Familiarity with the use of chess clocks is not required to play at the club. We have a number of sets, boards and clocks, but feel free to bring your own equipment if you have it. Rated GamesWe generally hold a USCF-rated chess tournament each month. These tournaments are free to Ohio State students and are open to the general public at a small fee. These tournaments serve as our sole fund-raising activity and provide a means for interested chess players to obtain an official rating. For the dates of future OSU tournaments, see the Ohio tournament calendar, or contact Paul Gardner ([email protected]). To participate in the rated tournaments, players must be members of the United States Chess Federation. For more information on USCF membership, go to: www.uschess.org |
