Week of October 6, 2002
Hello all,
The rotation I am on for this month is Obstetrics. My first night on OB was also my first night on call. It also happened to be the worst call night they have had in months. I haven't been around so many screaming, irrational women since I was the only boy in my first grade class. This past Saturday was my second night on call and it was thankfully much slower. However, I still got to successfully deliver three babies more or less on my own and close an epesiotomy. After our nights on call we go up to the nursery to see the babies we helped bring into the world and do the circumsisions. I still am not sure what the rational is for having a post-call team whacking foreskins, but there haven't been any casualties.
Tomorrow to reward our efforts last night our resident is letting us sleep in until 6:30 AM! I can't wait to get to bed so that in the morning I can look over and see that time on the clock, I feel like a kid at Christmas.
