Week of February 3, 2002
Hello All,
We finished up Breathe Free last week. The attendees were nice enough to bring us dinner to thank us for putting the program together. They were a great group and I really hope we were able to help them find success. However, thus far the longest one of our alumni have made it is three months. So, we are not quite reaching the 30% success rate that is generally quoted.
The last few lectures in Pharmacology have been on drug overdose and toxicology. It seems that Memphis is not sophisticated enough to have problems with LSD, or designer drugs. The drug of choice here is cocaine. After hearing the stories and going through the case reports I can tell that am going to be in for quite a shift in perspective when I start seeing patients at the Med. There is a whole side of life that I have not had much exposure to, but it will become reality for me as well soon.
Nola and I are getting our place fixed up. We are having tile layed in our kitchen even as I am writing. (Yes, for those of you who knew I was planning to do it myself I chickened out.) Also, we now have a real bed in our spare bedroom; so, whenever you decide to come to Memphis and pay your respects to Elvis at Graceland remember that you have a place to stay.
I hope you have a great week,
Brenton Reading
