| Dakhanee is the earliest form of Urdu. The first ever Urdu book
– Meraj-ul-Aasheqeen – was written in Dakhani by sufi Hazrath Khawja Banda Navaz Gesoo Daraz.
His dargah is in Gulbarga, Karantaka, India. Dada Abba spent most of his life in Gulbarga. The
life and works of Banda Navaz had a great impact on Dada Abba.
Dada Abba had command over Dakhanee as well as Urdu. He mostly chose Dakhani for his poetry as this was the language of masses too. Dada Abba established his own school of thought. The generations after him, specially in the Deccan region, were to follow him in his technique, | diction, and treatment of the subjects. Here are two of his poems Pao Hakeem and Atthaees Tareekh .

Dada Abba's enormous popularity does not lie merely in him being a poet extra ordinaire. He was a fine human being too. He worked hard to provide the best of the world to his family. Forgave his enemies without bearing any rancour and loved his freinds unconditonally. He was humble with elders and kind to
| youngers. He was a father figure to the disadvantaged and went out of his way to help others. He was troubled at the sufferings of others and was delighted at the happiness of fortunate ones as if their pain or joy were his own. May he rest in peace (Ameen). | ||
| It is said that behind every successful man is a woman. Behind Dada Abba’s succuss is Dadee Ammee. She took complete responsibility of running the house and raising children thus allowing Dada Abba enough time and freedom to pursue his literary interests. She was his companion, critic and a fan. My Dadee Ammee shared an interest in literature. She also has the instincts of a sharp business person. She is said to be an excellent cook. I can not verify this yet. They would not let me eat anything other than baby food. |
