What is the Care Ministry?

Home

Care Team
A member of the Care Team visits people in their homes, telephones regularly, accompanies members to doctor's appointments, and sends notes or cards to people in the congregation who are in stressful situations. Homebound, hospitalized and recovering OSLC members are visited regularly by the Director of Care and Health Ministries.

Emmaus Ministry
is a lay care-giving ministry grounded in Jesus' command to love one another. Through one-to-one relationships, trained members of the church nurture, educate and encourage members who need emotional and spiritual support. The training consists of 5 hours of education & skill-building. Support ministers meet periodically to receive support and encouragement and to enrich and improve their ministering skills.

Sunday Morning Prayer Ministry
is also a lay care-giving ministry. A two-member prayer team is available every Sunday after each service to pray with members who feel the need for specific prayers. The training consists of about 1 hour. Members of the OSLC pastoral staff are available to support and encourage the prayer ministers.

Meals From the Heart is a ministry that provides meals to members and their families at the time of discharge from a hospital, rehabilitation facility, the birth of a child, or any other significant occurrence in their lives. Members of the Meals From The Heart ministry make and/or deliver the meals

The
Eucharistic Ministry Team is comprised of members who feel their ministry is visiting our less-active members and bringing the Holy Meal to share with them. Training is offered to help team members become more comfortable with this ministry.

The
Youth Eucharistic Ministry Team is comprised of young people who have expressed an interest in assisting with distributing the bread and wine to members of the congregation who are unable to receive communion at the altar rail. These young ministers attend a short educational training session.
Senior Social is the monthly meeting of a group of senior memebrs of OSLC. Each month, a volunteer from one of the many ministries at OSLC visits and discusses that ministry. The seniors enjoy some refreshments, socialization, and games. The meetings close with Holy Communion. Senior Socials take place on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m in Koch Chapel.
Adults, seniors and youth do you have some extra time? How about joining the Care Team in hosting the Senior Social? You can share yourself, and contribute to the joy this gathering brings to our OSLC seniors.

E-mail Nancy Armes, R.N. Director of Care & Health Ministries
After games & goodies, OSLC members & friends enjoy a presentation on Clown Ministry from Pr. Jim at a Senior Social.
