School nowdays - Basic data Nowdays the elementary school "Petar Bakula" is central and the most crowded one not only in the town but widely. Many prizes have been gotten as the results of working.
Except the regular classes pupils are offered to aquire knowledge in additional classes (Math, German, Computer Science, Physics...), then in different outschool and unbound activities.

The school history Beginning and development Elementary school "Petar Bakula" ex "Deseta osnovna" was formed in 1963. With its number of pupils and workers, its results and involvements of pupils in many activities out of school and classes is one of the best schools in Mostar. The generations are coming one after another. Each of them has given a good professor, doctor, engineer,... War time 1992. shells echo in Mostar. The school was also shelled, but the classes are held with a small amount of pupils. The school gave up its rooms to the pupils and workers of two other schools. "Croatian theatre" and "Puppet theatre" are performing under its roof. It is the center of all the important happenings. In the school year 1993/94. and especially in 1994./95. a great number of pupils came to this school. Some of them are returning to their town and the others who came from occupied areas found temporary shelter in it. Renovation Teachers are confronted with difficulties and responsabilities. Pupils are coming with differentlevels of knowledge and working habits and with all problems characteristic for that sphere. In order to help them, and especially for traumatized children and for those who show the signs of negative behaviour, we have psycho-social programme. Since March 1995. we work in renovated building thanks to EU. Pupils, faced bright classrooms, new furniture, renovated gym, library. We do our best to raise lessons up to higher level, although we do three shifts. Thank to the efforts of our principal, cmputer science room is equipped and classes are organized for the pupils grade 5-8. Since September 1st 1996. the school has been named after Petar Bakula. In the school year 1997./98. R. E. was introduced for the first time, which takes care about spiritual renewal. Their faith keeps them away from all vices which makes human dignity worthless.
