Bars, Clubs, Restaurants, Nightlife and Other Interesting Places
Fridays: Fairly expensive for what you get. Service was poor BUT the one redeeming factor: they do have beer that comes in 2 and 3 foot tall beer mugs.
NOTE: All Information on the this page is nothing more than my personal opinion.
Centro Commercial EL PUEBLO: Large commercial center put together like an old town square. full of various nightclubs, restaurants, and bars including: Friends, Infinito, Bongo, Twister, Coco Loco and many more. Open every night of the week...on the weekends untill 4am, Largely a college-mid30's age party you'll always run across someone from your home country. it's a must do if you like to party and dance.
Sand:Across the street from the Mall San Pedro in the 'Bar Zone'. Often have great beer promotions. Play Rock and Heavy Metal
Chelles:Little soda at the east end of  Ave. 2. Decent food and service AND open 24hours.
Raices: Great Raggae bar. Fairly busy all nights of the week after 10 and very busy even earlier on weekends. Located around the corner from sand.
Jaliscos: Mexican food with pretty good meals at a very fair price. The chicken dishes are especially good.
Opposite side of the highway east of Mall San Pedro about one block north.
Antojitos: Mexican food chain. None of us were impressed by the food and the prices are very expensive compared to other places.
Il Gatto: Italian restaurant. Great ambiance not so great pasta dishes. However the pizza looked and smelled amazing. Fairly spendy.
Girabaldi's: Mexican food in San Pedro about 3 1/2 blocks east of Outlet Mall.
Really good tortilla soup. A little spendy.
Whapin: Caribbean food. Really great ambiance, nice people, really interesting and tasty food for really good price. I ate dinner for about $4. Located in Barrio Amon about 400meters  north and 200 east of the Northamerican / costarican cultural center in San Pedro
Calle Amagura (Bitter Street) Our very own 'Burbon Street' in the San Pedro area lined on both sides with bars and small restaurants. Mostly tourists and college kids since this street ends right in the Uof Costa Rica's backyard. You can walk the streets with your drinks and go from bar to bar until things wind down around 2am. (most people begin to head over to EL Pueblo around 1:00am since it's open till 4am) The area includes places like: Caccio's and El viejo pueblo (popular music), Mosiakos(rock and rave), Tavarua (surf and skate bar) and more.
IIl Pomodoro: italian food.Small  Location one block east of Calle amagura and also a nicer restaurant behind the Outlet Mall in San Pedro. Not too expensive. I loved the veggie pizza but havn't tried the pasta dishes yet.
Big Dog's: Blues cafe, Sports cafe and Biker bar. Each in a different location. Fun for watching soccer games. More of a gringo and upperclass tico hangout. Wasn't really impressed with the music but the live bands are supposed to be pretty good.
Restaurantes
Nightlife
El Cuartel de la Boca del Monte: Bar located across from Cine Magaly in Los Yoses(near San Pedro) Mondays are Ladies night and they have dancing with impressive mix of all kinds of music. Highly recomended. You'll also find alot of forigners here. also next door: Cielo bar, and Bash nightclub open for special events.
Lebnun: lebanise food. the service is really bad (like many places) but the atmosphere is so great! Especially in the bar. The food is really tasty even if it is a little spendy. Go for a beer and sit in one of the 'shieks tent' table areas or go with alot of time for lunch or dinner.
