Surf Is Where You Find It

My web page is dedicated to the many friends and mentors, who have helped me to learn one of the best sports on the planet. I started surfing on the great lakes in 1989 when I was 17 years old.

Learning was slow at first, due to my lack of lake weather knowledge and college too. It turns out the best surf on Lake Michigan occurs in fall when the water is warm, the air is cold, and school is in session.

Surf was the main light bulb to appear above my head when my brother Dan and Mei asked me to come with them to Indonesia in 1993 for his traditional wedding as Mei, his wife is from central Java. It was an amazing trip even though I surfed Kuta Beach most of the time I was in Bali. The touring of Java and Sumatra was amazing. Mei's sister introduced me to all of her friends, and five years and thousands of letters and phone bills later, Ratih and I are Married now since January, 3 1996. This means that I have to visit my in-laws when we can afford to (I wont complain since my best man is an Indonesian surfer named Ara)

I will try to share some pictures of some surf at my home breaks in Wisconsin, Indonesia, and California. I will also try to provide some cool links for more info on these places.
