Discussed Back-To-School Bar-B-Que: overall opinion seems to be that it was a good idea and a great stan, but there are some things that can and should be improved (ie. hold it earlier than the night before school starts, have program either before food or in a separate area where it can be heard, work out the flow of trafic so that the booths are botb accessible and seen). Discussion of PIE Officer positions and nominations for PIE Oficers: Co-President: Deana Schlauch MSA Co-President: Daniela Werner MSA Secretary: Jody Cadle MSA Media Reps: Jeanne Weichelman (in-house, notes home to parents) MSA Vonnie Hammack (community advertising) MSA *Christy Moore will be the one to whom any press-release type advertising will go. Discussed Penny Playground Drive Discussed Sock Hop - Daniela Werner will head up the concessions. Girl Scout Troop will serve hot dogs, pizza-by-the- slice, popcorn, and soda pop. What should the proceeds be designated for? (later decision by the board, concensis is that funds should be designated for Iibrary shelf materials: proposal will be submitted to Mrs. Ellingson and to the School Board) Discussed Book Fairs - will try to hold during parent conference times (fall & spring) Discussed Christmas Tree Auction - possibly run a Craft Fair in conjunction with it (?) Discussed Teacher Appreciation activities Discussed Leap-A-Thon Passed around Room Mother Sign-up list - a few more signed up Discussed Campbell's Soup LabelBox Tops For Education program - Jody Cadle will act as a representative from IGA and help with getting a collection site set up at the store. IGA will also continue with collection change through its' Make A Difference program and they would be willing to help as a collection site for Cash Back for Schools receipts from community. Discussed Treats and Childcare - Vonnie Hammack will bring treats to next meeting, Oct 3. Childcare is a help to parents, so we will continue to provide it... Mrs. Viereck has of'ered her room to be available to us, as long as we clean up after. Mrs. Ellingson spoke about Cash Back for Schools program, Open House (it will be earlier next year), and described the new "cougar mural" that PIE bought materials for, at the school.
