The situation of HIV/AIDS in Bangladesh is still in a tolerable position due to the socio-culture environment among the people. But the bordering countries like, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Thailand has been going fast in the transmission of HIV/AIDS and the movement of the general people from the countries to Bangladesh is easy and constant. It is apprehended that due to this reason HIV/AIDS may break open the silence any moment. For this raising of awareness among the vulnerable group and general population is being organized both by gob and NGO's everywhere.

According to Bangladesh government assessment about 126 HIV/AIDS patients have been detected & 4 out of it have already expired. No further report is yet received. But acridly to the WHO & UNICEF joint version a number 21270 HIV/AIDS patients might have been roaming in Bangladesh which the GOB have no acceptance.

But the trend of sex trade in Dhaka, Division H.Q., District H. Q. in Bangladesh is almost increasing and as a result, there is possible apprehension of increase number of transmission with STD and HIV/AIDS. If the people as a whole of the reproductive age in general and people of risk group and particular are not brought in awareness channel & practitioning safety methods from prevention if STD/AIDS.

The STD/AIDS may follow the sit of India and other border countries. The AIDS/STD program of gob in taking achieve management area this issues to part a stop to the further transmission of HIV/AIDS and STD.

It is noted that only 14% population know STD/AIDS and its prevention out of 120 million population and the rest have liable knowledge of it. So much thrust of message Book-let distribution & to participate in counseling on safety practices for prevention of STD and AIDS and we are getting much support for the community. We are in search of adequate funding for this programme at least Book-let printing & distribution.

This much information may help you in assessing Bangladesh situation of HIV/AIDS. A detailed information letter will be sent as early as possible.

Thanking you in anticipation.
