Denzel Washington to Make Eighth Oscar Show Appearance

Beverly Hills, CA - Two-time Academy Award winner Denzel Washington is slated 
to make his eighth appearance as a presenter at the 75th Academy Awards, 
producer Gil Cates announced today.

Washington won a Best Actor Oscar at the 74th Academy Awards for his role as 
undercover narcotics officer Alonzo Harris in "Training Day."  It was his fifth 
Oscar nomination.   In 1989, he won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his 
portrayal of the runaway slave, Trip, in "Glory." 

Washington recently made his directorial debut for the film "Antwone Fisher," 
in which he also has a supporting role.

His other film credits include "John Q.," "Remember the Titans," "The 
Hurricane," "Philadelphia," "Much Ado about Nothing," "Malcolm X" and "Cry 
Freedom."

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2002 will be presented on 
Sunday, March 23, 2003, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and 
televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5:30 p.m. PST.  A 
half-hour arrival segment will precede the presentation ceremony at 5 p.m.
