Paul McCartney to Make First Oscar Performance at The 74th Academy Awards

Beverly Hills, CA - Paul McCartney is set to make his Oscar performance debut at the 74th 
Academy Awards, producer Laura Ziskin announced today.

He will sing his song "Vanilla Sky," the title track for the Paramount film of the same name, 
for which he is nominated in the Original Song category. He was nominated in 1973 for the 
title song "Live and Let Die," for the now classic Bond film and won an Oscar for "Best Song 
Score" in 1970 with The Beatles for the documentary film "Let It Be."

Immediately following his performance, McCartney will return to the studio where he is 
rehearsing for his highly anticipated DRIVING USA Tour, which launches in Oakland on April 1.


Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2001 will be presented on Sunday, March 
24, 2002, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and televised live by the ABC Television 
Network beginning at 5:30 p.m. P.S.T. A half-hour arrival segment will precede the presentation 
ceremony at 5 p.m.
