Mel Gibson to Make Seventh  Oscar® Show Appearance

Beverly Hills, CA - Actor-director Mel Gibson has been tapped to present at the 74th Academy 
Awards, producer Laura Ziskin announced today.  This will be Gibson’s seventh appearance as 
a presenter at the Oscars.

Gibson is a two-time Oscar winner, for directing and producing the 1995 Best Picture, "Braveheart."

Gibson will be seen next in "We Were Soldiers," due out in March, and "Signs," to be released later in 2002.  His other acting credits include "What Women Want," "The Patriot," "Payback," 
"Conspiracy Theory," "Ransom" and the "Lethal Weapon" and "Mad Max" series.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2001 will be presented on Sunday, March 
24, 2002, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5:30 p.m. (PST). A half-hour arrival segment will precede the presentation
ceremony at 5 p.m.
