Oscar® Nominees Honored at Academy Luncheon Beverly Hills, CA - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will honor this year’s Oscar contenders at its annual Nominees Luncheon on Monday, March 11, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Approximately 100 nominees, from 23 categories, will gather at noon for the traditional pre-Awards luncheon. From the Leading Actor and Actress categories Russell Crowe, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Tom Wilkinson, Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman and Sissy Spacek are expected to attend. Jennifer Connelly, Helen Mirren, Marisa Tomei, Kate Winslet, Ethan Hawke, Ben Kingsley and Jon Voight are set to represent the Supporting Acting categories. Scheduled to attend from the Directing category are Robert Altman, Ron Howard, David Lynch and Ridley Scott. Nominated writers expected are Milo Addica, Daniel Clowes, Ted Elliott, Julian Fellowes, Rob Festinger, Todd Field, Akiva Goldsman, Christopher Nolan, Jonathan Nolan, Will Rokos, Terry Rossio, Roger S. H. Schulman, Joe Stillman and Terry Zwigoff. Sidney Poitier, who will receive an Honorary Oscar at this year’s show, and Arthur Hiller, who will accept the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, also are slated to attend. Sting, who is nominated in the Best Song category and will perform on the Oscar telecast, will be in attendance as well. Academy Awards® for outstanding film achievements of 2001 will be presented on Sunday, March 24, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5:30 p.m. PST.
