Denzel Washington to Make Seventh Oscar Show Appearance

Beverly Hills, CA - Academy Award winner Denzel Washington is slated to make his seventh 
appearance as a presenter at the 74th Academy Awards, producer Laura Ziskin announced today.

Washington is nominated for Best Actor for his role as undercover narcotics officer Alonzo 
Harris in the film "Training Day."  This marks Washington’s fifth Oscar nomination.  He won 
a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of runaway slave Trip in the 1989 film 
"Glory."

His other film credits include "Remember the Titans," "The Hurricane," "Philadelphia," "Much 
Ado about Nothing," "Malcolm X" and "Cry Freedom."

Washington currently stars in the New Line film "John Q.," with James Woods and Ray Liotta.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2001 will be presented on Sunday, March 
24, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and televised live by the ABC Television 
Network beginning at 5:30 p.m. PST.  A half-hour arrival segment will precede the presentation ceremony at 5 p.m.
