Academy Finalizes 2001 Nominees List The roster of the 2001 Academy Awards nominees was finalized yesterday (2/26) as two executive committees of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences made determinations regarding three pictures whose titles were announced on February 12 with a "nominee(s) to be determined" tag. The Producers Branch Executive Committee designated Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Barrie M. Osborne as the producer nominees for Best Picture contender "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings." The decision, which eliminated the picture's fourth credited producer, Tim Sanders, as a potential nominee, represented the first time that the Academy's producer committee has had to conduct an arbitration in the two years since the three-Oscar limit was placed on the Best Picture category. In the new Animated Feature category, the executive committee of the Short Films and Feature Animation branch held its own arbitration session and approved Pete Docter and John Lasseter as the nominees for "Monsters, Inc." and John A. Davis and Steve Oedekerk as the nominated creators of "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius." - #### - - - -
