Governors Ball Décor to Showcase Natural Beauty of Hollywood & Highland(R) Governors Ballroom Beverly Hills, CA - Simple, subtle elegance is the inspiration behind the décor of this year's Governors Ball, the official party of the 74th Academy Awards hosted by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The 1,650 guests, who include Oscar(R) winners, nominees, presenters and performers, will enjoy an evening of simple elegance in the Governors Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland, which was designed specifically for this annual occasion. "Since this ballroom was built with the Governors Ball in mind, we wanted this first year's décor to introduce the ballroom, rather than conceal it," said Alan Bergman, chair of the Governors Ball. "I think Ball Coordinator Cheryl Cecchetto and her production team have done a wonderful job of coming up with a plan to highlight the inherent beauty of the room." Cecchetto and her Sequoia Productions team, in collaboration with Armen Sevada of Ethos Design, will enhance the architecture of the ballroom, using it as a springboard for designing the décor. "We will complement the ballroom with cutting-edge customized designs of chandeliers, candles, beads and water fountains to give the room a shimmering glow," said Cecchetto. Custom-designed chandeliers will be installed to complement the ballroom's permanent light fixtures. Sheets of organza and beads are intertwined to create chandeliers which establish a soft and romantic mood. Candles strategically placed on tables and throughout the ballroom will create a warm glow. Guests will be seated at tables both round and square. Imported velvet fabrics in mahogany, mocha and gold will dress the tables enhancing the existing color theme. Four different types of centerpieces employing combinations of live goldfish and orchids will adorn the tables. Ethos Design and Sequoia Productions will provide custom designed fish tanks made of curved pencil steel. Mark's Garden will craft floral arrangements of orchids in green, gold and deep cappuccino to create a soft yet dramatic look. The lighting firm E.L.S. will illuminate the ballroom. The Governors Ball will immediately follow the 74th Academy Awards, which will be presented on Sunday, March 24, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5:30 p.m. PST. - #### - - - -
