Wolfgang Puck Named Chef of 2002 Governors Ball Beverly Hills, CA - For the eighth time, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has chosen celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck to create the cuisine at this year's Governors Ball following the Oscar ceremony. The Governors Ball, where Oscar nominees, winners, presenters and performers celebrate, is the official party of the 74th Academy Awards. Puck's company, Wolfgang Puck Catering and Events, will prepare and serve his culinary creations. "Wolfgang has become almost synonymous with the Governors Ball and I can't imagine doing this without him," said Alan Bergman, chairman of the ball. "We are thrilled to have him on board again this year." Puck and his team of chefs will create the multi-course, sit-down meal for the Academy's 1,650 guests. One of the most anticipated items on the menu is the gold-dusted chocolate Oscar, which has become a culinary tradition at the ball. "The Oscars are always such an exciting night and I love being a part of it. The fact that the ball will be held in a brand new venue this year just adds another element to the excitement," said Puck. In addition to Puck's personal involvement, culinary artists from Wolfgang Puck Catering and Events will be responsible for all cooking, presentation and service of the food. Puck's Oscar Night team will include chefs from many of his restaurants. Carl Schuster, president of Wolfgang Puck Catering and Events, and his staff will provide full dining room service for the ball, working out of a new state-of-the-art kitchen. "Wolfgang is very particular about his work and the Oscar Night festivities are no exception. He even participated in the design of the Governors Ballroom kitchen at Hollywood & Highland(R) to ensure no detail was forgotten. This is Hollywood's biggest night and we want things to run smoothly," said Schuster. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2001 will be presented on Sunday, March 24, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5:30 p.m. PST. A half-hour arrival segment will precede the presentation ceremony at 5 p.m. - #### - - - -
