Academy Awards Eigibility Period Ends December 31 Beverly Hills, CA - Monday, December 31, at midnight, marks the final deadline for a feature film to begin a seven-day run in Los Angeles County to officially qualify for 2001 Oscar consideration. "Each year a number of films begin their one-week qualifying run near the end of December," said Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Executive Director Bruce Davis. "However, in order to be eligible for a nomination, producers must have submitted the Academy’s Official Screen Credits form by December 1. We’re rarely surprised." Oscar nominations will be announced at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2001 will be presented on March 24, 2002, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. (PST), with a half-hour arrivals segment preceding the presentation ceremony. - #### - - - -
