Best Quote: "Well I failed to bring Roger [Smith] to Flint [Michigan]. As we neared the end of the twentieth century, the rich were richer, the poor, poorer. And people everywhere now had a lot less lint, thanks to the lint rollers made in my hometown. It was truly the dawn of a new era." - Michael Moore

Micheal Moore was born in Flint, Michigan, USA. He didn't actually work for GM, but some of his relatives did. And when GM cut all those jobs, he set out to find out why. His only problem: That asshole roger smith wouldn't talk to him.

roger smith, an incredible asshole if ever one was born, was the head of General Motors. Their main plants were located in Flint, Michigan, USA. In 1988, roger smith axed 30,000 GM jobs. Nay, he fired 30,000 people, devistating the economy and the town of Flint, forcing many people into the poor house. All the while, he he sat looking at his profits go up, not giveing s shit about anyone but himself.

And so Michael Moore set out to to tell the sad story of the once-proud city of Flint, in the vain hope that he might be able to help out him home town. Could he actually track down roger smith and ask why he did what he did? Well, he could sure try. Still, there was another problem looming on the horizon: no one in Flint could actually see the film.

"This film cannot be shown in Flint. All the theaters have closed."

Personal Comments

Roger & Me was Michael Moore's, the ever-controversial maker of shock-doc's, first film. It is as good as Bowling For Columbine, and almost as good as Farenheit 9/11.

Michael Moore started with Roger & Me and is till creating great films. Sure, he bent the truth to suit his film, but how far can it be bent?

I can't belive that one man, practically the devil himself, could do something so terrible. roger smith should have been castrated long ago. It's too be Canada and the US have lasw agianst assault... and no, this not being extreme, but I HATE the man. I HATE HIM. Anyone who did what he did and them become so ignorant and uncaring about it does not deserve any respect WHATSOEVER.

In my hometown, Levi's closed it's jean plant. They didn't put 650 workers out in the cold, though. Levi's put well over $500,000 into finding ways to get the workers retrained and finding new jobs. Did roger smith do that?

Some would call GM "The Anerican Dream." Well I wouldn't. I hope you don't either.

Plot:

Visual Effects:
Noe really to speak of, however, because it is a documentary. But Moore edits his film really well, taking all the footage and information he has and putting it together so it all flows quite nicely.

Sound:
Roger & Me contains one of my very favorite songs, "Wouldn't It Be Nice?" by the Beach Boys. Props to this.

Character Development:
Although there is no real character development in the film, we, as an audiance, grown along with the film. We learn the truth. And weather you like or hate roger smith is irrelevant. It's weather you belive what has been told to you by the end of the film. And why wouldn't you?

Atmosphere:

Realism:
I know, I know... the way the facts have been presented has been skewed to Moore's liking. however, ALL the facts ARE true.
