| This years vet school Open House was on Saturday, April 21, 2007. About a month prior, I emailed last years student coordinator to ask her whos this years student coordinator. She emailed back and said she doesnt know, but she forwarded my email to the faculty sponsor, who then in turn forwarded my email to this years student coordinator. Anyways, the week of the event, I had four different students calling me (I think the main student coordinator forwarded my email to various student coordinators), asking about what kind of organization ESRA is (no exchange of money allowed at the event) and how and where to set up. All four students were really nice. I asked if we could bring our rescue dogs for half hour so, and they said yes! AND they allowed us to have an indoor table again. | ||||||||

| I was told by the student in charge of the Anatomy Lab (we got the same location as last year) to set up on the Friday afternoon before. They asked me over the phone if we needed tables and chairs, and I told them we would bring our own. It only took me an hour to set up the whole thing this time, since I had the custom-made tablecloth. Also notice behind our table, the two skeletal displays. The body skeleton is one of a small dog, and the one mounted on the board next to it is one of the dogs nasal passages. So we are right in the dog section! They decided to put the cat displays across the walkway from our table, and on the right side of our table on the corner is an impressive skeleton of a large boar, and on the other side of our table is the ever popular ultrasound demonstration. | ||||||||
| I was busy this past week so I didnt have time to cut bandannas or bag dog biscuits to give out for free. But I did bring about ten bandannas that were left over from our last event. I did update the available for adoption folder. Also notice the Glory poster on our table. Everybody said it was very touching and the dog on the poster is beautiful. | ||||||||

| Photo contributed by Millie. The first thing Millie said was she thought maybe it wasnt a good idea to bring Jeffrey, and I thought, oh no, what happened. She said Jeffrey was so excited seeing all those people and dogs, and when a little girl came up to pet him (as they walked through the building to get to the Anatomy Lab), that Jeffrey jumped up and scratched the little girls face and she cried. Millie looked a little frustrated, so I offered to take Jeffrey for her. Jeffrey did act hyper and excited as visitors came near our table. Hes such a handsome dog that people wanted to pet him. But I made him sit even before he reached the other person, and when he tried to jump, I pulled him back. So he quickly learned that the trick to get people near him and pet him is to sit politely. |

| Saturday morning, I arrived at our table around 7:30 as told by the student coordinator for the Anatomy Lab, Lee. It turned out hes in charge of the ultrasound exhibit also. There wasnt a lot of people until 9 AM, when Millie arrived with Jeffrey, her foster dog. | ||||||||

| Then Millie and I spotted this cute merle dog on pink harness. Neither of us knew what breed she is, I thought it was a Louisiana Catahoula Hound because of the coloring and size, but theres something pudgy about the snout and paws that I thought maybe its a mix. When Millie asked them, they said its a Great Dane puppy, only about 4 months old! They said the puppy grows so fast that, they bought a collar when they went to the breeder to pick out the dog, but when they went to pick up the puppy, the collar didnt even fit her anymore. In the picture are the two Great Danes at the ultrasound exhibit. | ||||||||
