After getting scratched by his claws, I decided to try clipping his nails. I managed to clip three nails (used lots of treats), but I needed a break, so I stopped, then decided I wanted to eat something before getting back on the road again. So I put Jasper in the crate (threw some Nutro cookies in the back of the crate), and closed the door. He appeared to be fine in the crate, so I went to Tara to remove the pig ear and to let her sniff around, while I washed my hands. Then I heard growling from Jasper, followled by growling then barking from Tara, then barking from Jasper. When I ran back to the livingroom, Jasper saw me and stopped barking immediately. I really don't think Tara can see Jasper (just like I still don't think Tara knows we've got a second cat in the apartment now, since Oscar tries to stay out of Tara's way), so I think she's just reacting to his initial growl, and maybe he felt trapped in the crate, in addition to not being able to see me. So I walked Tara back to the bedroom and close the baby gate, while I finished washing my hands. |

After I got my dinner, I let Tara out again, she continued to sniff, but whenever she got too close to the crate, I would steer her away. Tara licked the cookie crumbs off the carpet, and eventually sat down. Jasper had calmed down and sat down in the crate also. Near the end of Jasper's a-little-more-than-an-hour visit, Anastasia walked out slowly to take a peek. Jasper glanced at her for a brief second, but again he pretty much ignored her too. After Peggy called, when it was time for us to leave, I lured Tara into the kitchen with her dinner, and while she's eating, I quickly took Jasper out of the crate and got out of the apartment. On the way to my car, we passed by two of my male neighbors in the hallway (two different times), Jasper did not appear to be afraid at all of them. |
