| John and Kate also gave me a pair of knitted slippers, and the red reindeer is the dog toy that they gave to Tara. Update of Dede from Angie: Dede had extensive testing last week. We first thought she had an enlarged spleen which scared me to death because of the possibility of rupturing. The x-ray pointed to the enlarged spleen. She then had an ultra sound a couple of days later along with bloodwork. The ultra sound showed that it was an enlarged liver and she did see a few dark spots on it. The bloodwork showed that the liver function was slightly abnormal. We do not know if it is cancer. To find this out, she would have to go to surgery. After talking with several good friends in MAESSR and Heather in Mid-South, we have decided not to put our baby girl through surgery. She is acting completely normal, good appetite, drinking well and still a freak over Frisbee. She is on a liver supplement and a special prescription diet. This all started because I was trying to get to the bottom of her occasional bowel incontinence. So, for now, Dede is doing wonderful and she is looking forward to meeting her new "brother" at the end of the week. |

| And Kate gave me a jar of orange marmalade that she made. Tara sniffed and found Jake's toys that were on livingroom chair and tried to take one, but Kate was fast enough and put them away. Tara was getting sleepy by the minute, but Jake was energized after his nap and was excited. Then Tara barked and lunged at him, luckily again I had her on leash, so she didn't get Jake while he went to Kate. Kate and John petted Jake (I don't think Jake was scared, but I think he was confused why Tara barked) and I hugged and petted Jake, and Tara and I proceeded to leave. Kate gave me the rest of the cookies and some more of the delicious soup. They told Jake to stay in the livingroom while we walked to my car. Tara slept the whole way during the drive back to Auburn. | ||||||||||

| Friday, December 22, 2006 I went to Atlanta today, first to visit Liana. I wanted to give away my treadmill because I didnt want to take it with me when I move, and Liana said she would be willing to take it, and that shes going to make a donation to ESRA for it. This is a win-win-win situation! Also Liana had been telling me about her new Great Dane puppy, so I am eager to meet Astro (like the dog in the cartoon, Jetsons) also. When I got to the house, Astro and Oreo (Lianas four-year-old female Springer) were excited at the door. Liana had told me a little bit about Astros training, so I turned my back and ignored him until hes not pawing me anymore. When he settles down, then I pet him. Also Astro nips like a puppy, so whenever he did that with me, I yelped like I did with Brenna when I trained her not to puppy nip me. Whenever I yelped, I think that startled Astro a little bit, and he would stop and be motionless for a couple seconds, so I think hes smart and starts to get the idea of nipping is not a good thing to do with a human. Then we went outside for the dogs to play. In the picture are Astro and Oreo wrestling. |

| Liana carries a pouch with treats inside to train Astro. Astros coat is pretty smooth too, just like Oreo. Liana said shes been giving him a little bit of the fatty acid supplement also, but not a lot right now, because he seems to have some sensitive stomach issues, and they are trying to figure out a good food he could stay on. | ||||||||||

| Oreo is in a fort that Liana said her first foster dog had dug out. Its an area behind some tree trunks with bushes covering it. Its a fort because Oreo can get in, but not Astro. | ||||||||||

| OMalley and Oreo. OMalley went over to the laundry room; thats where his litter box is, but Liana said thats where they feed him also, and hes asking for food. I got to hold OMalley for a few minutes, hes very sweet also, and very food motivated! Liana gave him some of the semi-moist doggie treats and he ate them all. | ||||||||||
| Back inside the house, I got to meet OMalley, the cat. Isnt he gorgeous?! Hes 13 years old, and Liana found him at the parking lot of a gym called OMalley. | ||||||||||
