Tara

The girls are doing fine together today.  I can even walk them with their leashes in one hand.  We also met Kia and Suzie this morning.  Suzie recognized Tara (because shes shaved) but was a little confused as to which dog the other one is.  When I told her Keely, she was very happy and petted her.  Tara got between them and wanted petting too, but Suzie told her, I know Keely first, so Ill pet her first.  Kia and Tara and Keely got along fine also.  Suzie said she went to visit her former foster dog and she is doing very well and bonding with her new family.  She said she and Kia went to Kiesel Park on Saturday morning like always, but there were lot of dogs there.  She didnt have Kia on leash (Kias pretty good about staying near Suzie), and a woman with two leashed Great Danes approached them.  Then suddenly the Great Danes attacked Kia, but the dogs owner was able to hold them at the same place, while Suzie called to Kia to come, and that ended the fight.  Luckily nobody got hurt.

This morning as I was getting ready to leave and was cleaning the bathtub after a shower, suddenly Tara and Keely were fighting again.  I dont know who started it, but my guess is that Keely was sitting right outside of the bathroom watching me, and Tara was pacing around, and Keely got annoyed and growled, and Tara fought with her because of that.  This time Keely had both of her front paws up just like Tara.  Anyways, I was able to separate them with no problem, and took Tara directly to the crate for timeout.  If I had two crates, I would probably put Keely in the crate also for timeout.
Mary emailed and said shell be home Thursday after 4 PM, so I can drop off Peter then.  And also I asked her if she could keep Peter until Sunday morning, and she said thats fine too.  Liana said theres another foster-to-adopt family whos interested in Peter, but the family has two kids, ages 4-6, so she asked us how Peter does with kids.  Heres Marys reply, He met a few children while at Woofstock, and seems to do perfectly fine with them.  He let them pet him, etc.  One little girl was probably about 3-4 and he took no special notice in her.
Tonight right before obedience class started, Tara growled at the large male yellow Lab in the store.  But then two other dogs in class growled at him when he approached them too.  So I guess its not just Tara.  But we did the weave with the owner and the dogs serve as the poles.  Tara was very good and Rebekah said so too and said that Tara was pretty good with the other dogs while we did the weave.

I called yesterday afternoon and spoke to Dr. Colley.  He said Peter is doing very well.  I asked if I could pick him up today at 4 PM, he said that's fine.
I picked up Peter from Mary this morning.  Huck and Peter were looking out of the front glass door, without leashes on.  So I guess as of Tuesday morning, Mary was letting him walk around without a leash.  Peters fur is really soft and silky, just like what a Springer's should be.  Mary said theres another storm coming tonight, and shes worried about Peter getting anxious, after theyve given him the heartworm treatment.  I told her that sometimes we do have to give the dogs sedatives during the treatment, so I told her not to worry.  At the vets office, I relayed Mary's concern regarding tonight's thunderstorm on Peter, and they said they will give him sedative if they see the storm coming before they leave tonight.
Dr. Colley called around noon and said Peters doing fine, and that hell be ready to go home on Thursday after 11 AM, they want to give him a bath before he leaves.

Lily and the dishwasher.
Just thought you'd enjoy seeing a few pictures of Lily. She's surely making herself at home. I promise, I feed her regularly! And, it certainly doesn't appear her spinal injury has slowed her down at all!
For the rest of the week, I would supervise them closely, and when I couldnt (in the bathroom, etc.), I would keep one of them in the room with me, and the other one in the other room.  Also, occasionally I would keep a short leash on Tara, just to remind her that I am in control.  Furthermore, I exercised them both at least one mile a day, so they would be tired and think less about fighting each other.  And they did fine the rest of the week.  The photos are not posed, the girls voluntarily got near each other.  I used the Comfort Zone occasionally, dont know if it helped.
