Sherlock

I got a new tank for Sherlock last weekend.  The old tank is almost 4 years old, and no matter how hard I scrub it, the acrylic glass still looked dirty.  I think it's the same size as the previous one, but this one is a real fish tank (the older one is actually for use as decoration, for holding artificial fishes), and so it's designed for easier cleaning, and it comes with filter.  It's got light on the lid too, but Virginia said not to put the carbon filter in, because it's too much chemical for one little fish.  So I've taken the filter out, but then there's no air/water pump now either.

When I brought it home and started to set it up, of course Oscar was the first one who came up to check it out.  She was very curious with the water pump and tried to dip her paws in the water when I had the lid off and wasn't looking.  I called her name, and she stopped and walked away.  A few minutes later, Anastasia came to check the new tank out too.

Since I am getting new furniture for the condo, I decided to update the decor in the fish tank also.  I bought one bridge and two new artificial plants, and soaked one at a time, for one week, in filtered water (the same water I use to change the fish tank water every month), to get rid of as much toxins as possible.  The film covering on one of the new plants came off during the soak, so I threw that plant away.  But I removed the old plant, and put the bridge and the other plant into the tank, one week at a time.  It gives the tank a different look, and I just saw Sherlock swimming through the opening under the bridge!
